Hello Ladies! Again, Congratulations on all the newly elected and appointed State Officers. Looking forward to a great year, with a great team.! I ve been busy, busy busy, but loving it!. I ve already participated at a few events and visits since election. First stop - West Harrison Post #13 Hosting a Honor & Remember Flag Presentation to 3 Vietnam Gold Star Families from that area. These 3 fallen, are Baker, Mathias and Pie, are also the namesake of this Post. Not a dry eye on this hot sunny day, especially once the Bag Pipers start playing Amazing Grace, gets me every time. Aside from that, there were some excellent guests speaks, many of whom were from gold star family members. I personally had the opportunity to meet the gold star families and listened as they shared their personal stories. Not an easy thing to do. I got a better understanding why our PDP Robin s consistent dedication to this cause is so important to her. Immediately following the ceremony was a great luncheon prepared by volunteers and joint camaraderie with fellow AMVET Family and the Gold Star Families My next stop was a visit to Auxiliary #102 - Fowler to present them with their Membership Award Plaque -of 133% increase in Category 1. 1 These ladies are very dedicated within their small community with fundraising and more. We discussed about SEC conferences and the importance of attending them. Hope we see these terrific ladies at these meetings. Most recent was working at the Dept Auxiliary Car Show hosted by the Pendleton Post #26 - Kudos to Carol Riley on her car show expertise in getting this off the ground. I believe we did very well for our First and it certainly was a fun and exciting experience for all involved. Carol, made her infamous biscuits and gravy - which sold out very quickly. We also had. Coney Dogs, Hamburgers, Hotdogs, chips, water and pop. Raffles and a 50/50. I want to thank the Sons of AMVETS #26, especially sons Commander Troy Jones and his team in setting up the grounds for this event and cooking on the grill. It takes many volunteer hands to make a successful fundraiser as large as this one. Thanks to Department Officers, PDP s, PNP s for their continuous dedication and support who helped with raffle and 50/50 ticket sales, working the registration table, taking in money and serving food. And much, much more. Need to thank Local Auxiliaries who sponsored Award Trophies and of course Members who gave monetary donations and raffle items, which helped tremendously to offset expenses. Then there was Rockin Robin, a/k/a our very own PDP, coming out of DJ retirement volunteering her time playing some great oldies. Perfect setting for a Car Show. Vendors and Guests alike complimented on her song selections. Good time. My President s Project will be the Honor Flights of Indiana. There are 4 Hubs throughout our State. If locals need some ideas or have ideas on how to raise funds for this project - please lets share them at our meetings. Attached will is a page on what, where, and why this Project is so important - giving back to our Veterans is what this mainly is about. Pam Mow, President of the Gold Star Mothers and Director of the Lafayette-Purdue Honor Flight has been my mentor regarding these events. Pam has been invited to give her presentation about the Honor Flights at our Winter Conference. God Bless America Deb Gass Dept. President Gassd@comcast.net (574)870-2122 SEE LAST PAGE IMPORTANT DATES - Madam President, brothers and sisters in AMVETS, Congratulations to all the new officers. PDP Robin Starrett, thank you for two great years!!

I thank you all again for the opportunity to serve as the First Vice of the Department of Indiana. I look forward to working closely with our incoming Department President, Deb Gass and assisting her wherever needed. I also look forward to working closely with our Department Secretary, Carol Riley as well as with all the department officers. Most importantly, I look forward to continuing to be of service to out Veterans and the community in which I live. Please remember that there is power in numbers. Membership is the most important program of AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary. MEMBERSHIP provided the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary with: The potential to be effective in legislative. The ability to be heard on issues important to veterans and their families. The potential to gain recognition in the media. The ability to gain publicity for our programs. Volunteers for our service programs Membership = volunteers and volunteers = service. The financial resources to carry out our Service Programs and to develop new ones as the need arises. It is important that the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary conduct a vigorous membership program to: 1 Secure new members 2 Maintain renewals 2 3 Bring back members who have dropped of the Auxiliary. Which I am here to assist in anyway MEMBERSHIP is vital on all levels of our organization, but it is IMPORTANT to remember that the key person in any membership program is the Local Membership Chairman. She is CRUCIAL to the success of the program. Thank you and much love, Rochele M. Jones, MBA First Vice President Department of Indiana Local Aux. #66 144 N.
