2016 Sutainabiity Performance by Country.05 Sonae Sierra in brazi Sonae Sierra Brai i ited in the BM&F BOVESPA (the Braziian Stock Exchange) with a 33% free foat; the remainder i a 50/50 partnerhip between Sonae Sierra and the German invetor Aexander Otto. Sonae Sierra Brai buine operate autonomouy and i focued on inveting, deveoping and managing hopping centre in Brazi. A of 31 December 2016, Sonae Sierra Brai owned nine hopping centre. Our hopping centre portfoio deivered good operationa reut in 2016 in the context of ongoing economic receion. Like-for-ike tenant ae and renta income acro our aet grew at 0.6% and 2.8% repectivey (beow the rate of infation), and the average occupancy rate increaed to 94.8%. A conumer pend ha weakened, we have been depoying our reiient property management approach, making the greatet poibe effort to upport our tenant through the crii by granting temporary dicount where appropriate and mobiiing effective conumer ae campaign. Conequenty, in 2016 we utained a higher eve of renta income compared to our peer. 2016 aw no change to yied even in the context of deteriorating market condition. Moreover, the poitive impact of the Braziian Rea appreciation contributed further to a higher portfoio OMV, which achieved 1.4 biion a of 31 December 2016, 26% higher than at year. Our trategic focu in Brazi i to conoidate our exiting portfoio. During the year we competed the ae of 100% of our take in Boavita Shopping (a non-core aet ocated in São Pauo) in ine with the open market vauation, and we wi ao ook to raie additiona revenue through the eae or ae of and adjacent to four of our hopping centre for office and/or reidentia deveopment cheme. Furthermore, we commenced with preparation for the refurbihment of Shopping Paza Su, a hopping centre which ha been e impacted by the economic downturn and i ubject to ignificant ongoing demand from tenant ooking to acquire pace. The refurbihment wi modernie the hopping centre, accommodate additiona tenant unit and deiver improvement to the tenant mix. Our Digita Experience project, aunched in 2013, ha previouy reuted in the creation of evera initiative, incuding the Service Mobie App, WhatApp Advior and #BuyTogether piot project. We are now reponding to the growth in e-commerce with the deveopment of an on-ine ae patform, and we have aunched a promiing new project caed STEP-9 which invove the ue of an open, coaborative network of digita entrepreneur to bring together new idea for digita ervice and marketing activation which can be teted by Sonae Sierra Brai hopping centre. In keeping with our focu on afe peope and eco-efficiency and a a part of our focu on reducing tenant cot we improved the eectricity efficiency of our owned portfoio by 12%, and increaed our wate recycing rate by 9%. The improvement in our portfoio eectricity efficiency contributed to a 42% reduction in GHG emiion (GHG protoco cope 1 and 2 emiion, pu buine air trave) acro our hopping centre and corporate office. We impemented 60% of the recommendation identified a part of our Bright Project 10 energy efficiency initiative, and 83% of the water efficiency meaure identified through our Dive Project 10. The meaure identified by thee initiative offer combined potentia aving of 798,000 a year. We were ao abe to cut the number of eve 3 and above accident per miion viit in our hopping centre by 32% foowing the impementation of ite pecific action pan to tacke the common caue of incident. And mirroring our performance in Portuga, we aw a 60% reduction in the Lot Workday Cae Accident Frequency Rate (LWCAFR) among our hopping centre ervice uppier foowing our invetigation to identify the root caue of incident and impement preventive meaure. 9 Thi figure correpond to the tota rent invoiced (100%) to tenant of Sonae Sierra owned hopping centre in Brazi. Launched STEP-9, an open innovation patform that aim to create a coaborative network of digita entrepreneur to bring together new idea for digita ervice and marketing activation that can be teted in our hopping centre. Inveted and heped raie 83,844 for oca community initiative, upported 36 13 charitabe organiation and dedicated 1,029 hour of taff time to community vounteering. Opened one new Coop Store, which offer oca buinee a fexibe retai format and hep to further diverify our tenant mix. Uing jut under 1.5% of the aocated marketing budget, the campaign brought in 43% more viitor, generated an 83% increae in ae and received poitive recognition from conumer. Through STEP-9, we have engaged viitor and other takehoder to come up with promiing idea that we can deveop to improve our hopping centre ervice.
