Jewish Family Services Annual Report: 2015 2016

Because of your generosity, we're able to continue our mission of transforming lives and strengthening our community. Dear Friends, This has been an exciting year of transitions for JFS Richmond. From a new CEO, to a Board of Directors Bernard L. Henderson, Jr. President Ronald Felmus 1st Vice President Sandra Sisisky 2nd Vice President Karin Fine Secretary Eric Shoenfeld Treasurer Elizabeth Smartt Immediate Past President Cynthia Bailey Sara Griebel Retta Leigh Keil Kathy Kennedy Linda Mays David Monday Paige L. Quilter Jessica Samet Tom Topinka Samuel Weidman marketing rebrand, inaugural Personal Care Aide class and a soon to be implemented Electronic Health Record (EHR) software system, JFS is prepared for the future. For 168 years, we have supported individuals and families, aligning our Care, Counseling and Adoption services with the challenges of each day. Today we know from the Greater Richmond Age Wave that older adults represent the fastest growing segment of the U.S. population. By 2030, the number of people in our region age 65 and over will double and those age 85 and over will more than triple. JFS is committed to assisting individuals with aging in their community of choice. Through our Workforce Development Initiative, including a subsidized Personal Care Aide class, we are simultaneously building careers and professional, compassionate caregivers to meet the growing need. We know that more than 80% of our young counseling clients fall at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty level. We are growing our counseling services to meet these growing needs for psychological testing and therapeutic interventions. A new EHR system will enable us to serve more clients and enhance their experiences though improved processes such as billing, scheduling, and direct communication. And through these transitions, one thing will always remain- the JFS team's dedication to Transforming Lives and Strengthening our Community. We are here for you. Thank you for allowing us to carry on our mission of service started in 1849.
