As part of an ongoing commitment to provide financial assistance to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Chi Zeta Omega Chapter, in conjunction with Pearls of Service, Inc., our non-profit organization, will host its fourth annual Think HBCU SM Day Party Fundraiser. Support of HBCUs will be a priority as Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated launches a national campaign, Think HBCU SM to highlight HBCUs and their contribution to the sorority and society. Through education, engagement and advocacy, HBCUs will be showcased as a critical venue for moving students to and through college. The Think HBCU SM Day Party Fundraiser, will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017, 1:00 p.m. 6:00 pm, at Blue Martini located at 7301 Lone Star Drive, Plano, TX 75093. During this Think HBCU SM Day Party Fundraiser, one to three scholarships will be awarded to HBCUs based on the most funds raised. Over the last three years, we have awarded over $20,000 in scholarship dollars with Grambling State University receiving a $1800 scholarship in 2014 and a $4500 scholarship in 2015. Additionally, in 2016, both Florida A&M University and Grambling State University were awarded $7000 scholarships. It is the oldest Greek-lettered organization established by African-American college-educated women. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is comprised of a nucleus of 260,000 members in graduate and undergraduate chapters in the United States, the U. S. Virgin Islands, the Caribbean, Canada, Japan, Germany, Korea and on the continent of Africa. Pearls of Service, Incorporated Mission: Pearls of Service, Inc., is a nonprofit charitable organization created by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Chi Zeta Omega Chapter of Plano, Texas. It is the fundraising arm of the chapter and was created to support educational scholarships and various community service of the Chi Zeta Omega Chapter, and other Collin County organizations. Our mission is to raise and distribute funds in support of charitable and educational efforts in Collin County. In addition to providing college scholarships, we support youth development, health, family empowerment, and initiatives focusing on environmental and global concerns.
