CoARC The CoARC accredits entry into professional practice programs in respiratory care at the Associate, Baccalaureate, and Master s Degree level and degree advancement programs in respiratory care at the Baccalaureate, and Master s Degree levels as well as degree advancement programs in respiratory care at the Baccalaureate undergraduate and graduate Degree levels. The CoARC also accredits polysomnography programs offered by these programs. CoARC accreditation activities are limited to programs in the United States and its territories.

CoARC The mission of the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) is to ensure that high quality educational programs prepare competent respiratory therapists for practice, education, research, and service.

CoARC 1/1/2018 changes to standard 1.01 existing associate degree programs will be to participate in the accreditation process provided that they continue to comply with CoARC Standards and Policies. Programs with citations will still be allowed to continue. In the reaccreditation process, applicant programs are considered to be new programs and must therefore comply with current, applicable Standards. Accordingly, after January 1, 2018, for such an application to be considered, the program sponsor would need to be capable of awarding a baccalaureate or graduate degree upon program completion.

GCMB The Georgia Composite Medical Board is the agency that licenses physicians, physician assistants, respiratory care professionals, perfusionists, acupuncturists, orthotists, prosthetists, auricular (ear) detoxification specialists, residency training permits, cosmetic laser practitioners and pain management clinics. The Medical Board investigates complaints and disciplines those who violate The Medical Practice Act or other laws governing the professional behavior of its licensees.

GCMB The mission of the Georgia Composite Medical Board is to protect the health of Georgians through the proper licensing of physicians and certain members of the healing arts and through the objective enforcement of the Medical Practice Act.

GCMB Renewal Your certificate expires at the end of your birth month. You may renew 60-days before your license expires. You can renew on the internet at the Board s website (http://medicalboard.georgia.gov/) Renewal fee is currently $105.00, late fee $205.00 Requires thirty (30) hours of continuing education.

GCMB Audit The Board audits a one percentage of randomly selected renewal applicants to monitor compliance. Documentation must be furnished AARC! Subject to disciplinary action Cannot practice Late renewal (3 months) with documentation Revoked if not done within the late renewal period http://rules.sos.ga.gov/gac/360-13-.10

GCMB Report criminal convictions and your inability to practice to the Board within (ten) 10 business days. Keep your address current with the Board. Do Not practice with an expired certificate.
