St. Charles High School Senior Assembly Class of 2017 Important Dates and Information for May and June 2017
Senior Class Dues May 1, 2017-Notices were provided students who have not paid their senior dues in full. May 4, 2017-Any outstanding senior dues balances were submitted as debts to the school finance office. Students with debts cannot purchase prom tickets or participate in graduation activities until all debts are paid.
Senior Clearance May 8, 2017- Forms were distributed in homeroom and must be completed in order starting with Ms. Malherek in the career center. May 19, 2017- Deadline for completed senior clearance form to be submitted to Mr. Alvarez. No student will be permitted to participate in graduation without a clearance form turned into Mr. Alvarez. Taking care of all debts (library/athletics/classroom/cafeteria) is part of this clearance process.
Senior Trip May 1, 2017- Permission slips for the senior trip were passed out in homeroom along with 4th quarter interims. May 9,2017- Students will be allowed to sign up for their seating on the senior trip buses. May 12, 2017-Permission slips due and deadline for bus seating sign ups. After May 12, 2017- Any student who has not selected a seat will be assigned to an open
Senior Trip May 24, 2017-Students are to arrive at 5:30 am (at the gym entrance) for a 6:00 am coach bus departure. May 24, 2017(9:00pm-10:00pm) - Students will be arriving back at St. Charles High School. Please be prepare to pick your children up. Students are to wear their senior t-shirt on the trip. Breakfast and lunch will be served at no additional cost to students, however dinner and snacks at the park must be paid for individually.
Graduation Attire Ladies: Dark (navy or black) colored dress or skirt, dark colored blouse, dark colored shoes (maximum heel of 2 inches) with a back strap, cap, gown, and stole. No backless or strapless dress. Spaghetti strap dresses must have a covering. No cork wedge heels. Heels maximum of 2 inches.
Graduation Attire Gentlemen: Navy or black dress pants, white collared dress shirt, navy or black necktie, black dress shoes with dark socks. Ladies and Gentlemen: No athletic, casual shoes, or sandals. No jewelry except for small stud earrings. Only stoles, pins and medals issued by St. Charles High School can be worn. No other recognitions or decoration of graduation attire will be permitted (i.e. decorating their caps)
Graduation Rehearsals May 25-31, 2017-Graduation rehearsals will be held in the St. Charles High School gymnasium. These practices will run from 7:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. (There is the possibility that seniors may be dismissed earlier than 11:30 a.m.) Seniors will be expected to leave the school immediately following the conclusion of graduation practice. They will not be permitted to ride the bus home on these days. A ride must be arranged.
Graduation Rehearsal Parking Students who wish to drive can park in their regular spot if they have a parking permit through Mrs. Thenstead. Any student who does not have a permit can still drive on these days, but will be required to park in the far left lane of parking spots in the student lot, looking out from the gymnasium. These are spots # 357 to 422. Spots along the back of the lot in the unnumbered area may also be used. Cars parked in any other spots may be towed.
Graduation Rehearsal Attendance In order to participate in the commencement exercises, students must attend all rehearsals. Only medical notes/court summons will be accepted as excuses for missing any part of a rehearsal. Students are expected to arrive to all rehearsals on time.
Graduation Rehearsal May 25, 2017-Graduation tickets and caps/gowns will be distributed to all seniors who are cleared and debt free during practice. May 25, 2017-Any senior who will receive an award at senior awards night on May 31, 2017 will be given an invitation May 31, 2017-Will serve as the dress rehearsal for graduation. All graduates must arrive at school in their approved graduation attire to include caps, gowns, and stoles. Class of 2017 panoramic picture is also scheduled. May 31, 2017-All students receiving awards at senior awards night will be required to remain after the full graduation practice for a short rehearsal for that evening s program.
Parade of Success May 30, 2017 -Seniors have been invited to participate in a Parade of Success at local elementary schools to recognize them for their accomplishment. We have arranged for two buses to take the first 80 students who sign up to participate in this event. Bus 1 will visit Neal and Eva Turner and Bus 2 will visit Dr. Brown and Arthur Middleton. Buses will leave St. Charles at 10:45 a.m. and will return by 12:00 noon. Participants must wear their full cap/gown and other graduation attire. May 19, 2017-Permission slips are due to Mr. Alvarez.
Senior Awards May 31, 2017 6:00 pm-senior Awards Night. Students who are participating in the awards ceremony will be notified by their guidance counselor during the first day of graduation practice. Students are required to wear their graduation attire including gown and stole, but will not have to wear their cap to the ceremony. Students must report to the auditorium at 5:15 p.m. to line up for the awards program
Graduation Day June 1,2017 7:00 pm All seniors are required to meet at St. Charles High School on graduation day to ride on the bus to the Convocation Center at North Point High School. Students must be at St. Charles by 4:30 pm. Students will not be permitted to carry purses, keys, cell phones, headphones, and other similar items during graduation and are encouraged to leave these items at home. Any items brought to school will be held during the ceremony and returned after it concludes.
Graduation Information for Parents and Guests-Parking Parking lots open at 5:00pm. Parking Lots will be filled in the order that they are opened by parking staff. Only visitors with VIP parking passes or government issued handicapped tags/decals will be permitted to park in Blue Lot. There will be no curbside drop-off available for elderly guests/guests in wheel chairs.

Graduation Day Information Parents and Guests Doors open at Convocation Center: 5:00 p.m. (2 hrs prior to commencement) All students will receive ten (10) guest tickets. All guests including babies must have a ticket. CCPS employee badges will not be accepted in place of tickets. Tickets will be collected as guests enter the convocation center. An alternative ticket will be given for re-entry for those needing to use the restrooms. East/West seating East Side-Ladies West Side-Gentleman
Graduation Day Information Parents and Guests 6:45pm.Lower level doors close at Convocation Center and will remain closed until the end of ceremony: 6:55 p.m. All remaining doors closed at Convocation Center 7:00 p.m. Commencement Begins.
Graduation Day Information Parents and Guests Doors re-open at Convocation Center Upper Level only: After the processional (7:20 p.m.). No signs, posters airhorns, noisemakers or balloons will be permitted in the Convocation Center. Seat saving will not be permitted. Please plan to arrive as a group if you wish to sit as a group.
Silent Roll Call The Silent Roll Call is a commitment we have made to all of our graduating seniors. The Class of 2016 wants to hear ALL of the names of ALL of the members of the class. In order to do this, audience members are asked to be silent while the graduates are receiving their diplomas. This is something that we want to become a tradition at St. Charles High School graduations. We are sure that our community can accomplish this goal. Are you up to the challenge?
Senior Reminders Senior pranks and other disruptive or destructive behaviors will not be tolerated. Students who participate in these activities or who receive referrals/suspensions from this day forward are putting their ability to participate in graduation in jeopardy.
Project Graduation June 1, 2017 at College of Southern Maryland-La Plata campus Each student will be issued two tickets Celebration starts at 9:00 pm until 2:00 am. Door prizes, food, fun, etc.
