Peter Franklin (Western Australia based) Peter currently operates in industry consulting on clinical governance and improving patient outcomes in remote medicine through systemic review. This helps him to assist companies and paramedics by developing robust drug and clinical guidelines, operating procedures, CPD activities and technologies that are realistic, relevant and geared towards remote paramedicine, including the introduction of Corpuls3, Lucas3, TXA and telemedicine. Peter strives to help patients by being mindful of the factors that assist further safe development of clinicians, and he has experience in a range of roles: EMT, paramedic, ECP, educator, manager, CCP, SAR and clinical governance on ground, air, maritime and disaster relief operations. Peter believes paramedicine is the best professional career and considers himself fortunate to operate in Australia, Europe, North America, South-East-Asia and the Middle East. He now wants to share this experience and knowledge base effectively with his peers to assist the ongoing development of the profession. Simone Haigh (Tasmania based) Simone was initially elected as a Director of the PA Board in 2015. Following a three-year term Simone is now seeking re-election in order to continue the projects and work she is undertaking while utilising the experience and skills gained during this period. Simone is currently an intensive care paramedic with Ambulance Tasmania where she has been employed for more than a decade, and is based in regional Tasmania. She believes she brings to the PA Board a perspective for the rural and remote paramedic and is also committed to her roles including Board liaison for mental health and wellbeing issues for paramedics, Tasmanian representative on the National Registration Working Group, and social media committee member with a specialist focus on national registration. Within the Tasmanian Chapter, Simone has held several committee positions including chair, and is also currently a local union representative as well as a member of the National Union Board. Nathan Haynes (Western Australia based) Nathan is the Western Australia Chapter Chair of Paramedics Australasia. He is a paramedic and emergency registered nurse in the medical industry for the past 12 years. Nathan has held several roles within Paramedics Australasia including, Media and Event Coordinator, WA Chapter Chair and committee member to the National Registration Working Group. From these roles Nathan has successfully strengthened the relationship between the pre-hospital and in-hospital environment through CPD events, symposiums, conferences, workshops and the popular 5 on Friday video series. Nathan s continuing vision is to take inside care outside where pre-hospital and in-hospital medicine can unite and share education and information that benefits best patient care and outcomes while delivering up-to-date evidence based practice. As the paramedic industry approaches registration for 2018, Nathan strongly believes that this is a crucial time to support our current working paramedics where they can smoothly transition to registered paramedic.

Peter Jurkovsky (Victoria based) LLM, LLB(Hons), DipParaSc, GradDipLegalPrac, GradCertHighEd Peter is a paramedic, educator and lawyer with a lifetime of professional experience in paramedic operations, management and education. After working as an operational paramedic, he founded one of the first private ambulance companies in Australia. After the sale of the business, he returned to study and qualified as a lawyer and transitioned into the higher education sector where he taught and coordinated under- and postgraduate paramedic programs at Monash University. Peter currently practices privately as a lawyer, and was co-opted to the Board as a skills-based Director in December 2015 in recognition of his legal skills and knowledge relating to paramedic regulation under the Australian National Law, in addition to experience in private paramedicine. He now chairs the Australian National Registration Working Group where he continues to lead the Board s strategy on paramedic registration in Australia and support the New Zealand Paramedic Registration Working Group. Stewart Masson (Western Australia based) Stewart Masson has acquired an extensive repertoire of skills over the past 27 years through various emergency management roles in government, military, fire and rescue, flight paramedic and mining industries. In this role he introduced robust corporate governance processes. Stewart holds an MBA and a Masters in Paramedical Science specialising in community paramedicine and is currently undertaking a PhD through Edith Cowan University. He has a keen interest in developing a registration process for those medical practitioners practising at a vocational level. Lyn Murphy (New Zealand based) Having 23 years experience lecturing in health, leadership and organisational behavior, Lyn s portfolio includes an extensive history of community service. She possesses a diverse academic background in education, health, psychology, management and accounting and has served on a number of New Zealand boards including local body and government directorships. Currently lecturing for first year students completing the Health Science Degree at Auckland University of Technology, Lyn holds a PhD in accounting and academic qualifications in management, psychology and occupational therapy. Lyn is an elected member of Counties Manukau District Health Board, past member of the Northern Y Regional Ethics Committee, and past Vice-President on the New Zealand Chapter of the International Society of Pharmaco-economics and Outcomes Research. Lyn cares passionately about the successful development of a strong health workforce, using her natural leadership skills to promote a supportive and collegiate environment. She relishes the idea of using her governance skills with Paramedics Australasia.

His professional development and leadership experience spans six countries including China and the USA. He has worked within a number of jurisdictions and has enjoyed working with associations in countries across the globe. His executive role as Director of Finance with the University of Auckland Business School is responsible for leading a team to provide strategic direction and leadership within budget responsibility in excess of $110m. Mark Woodard (New Zealand based) Mark s current role is Director of Corporate Services/CFO at PHARMAC, the New Zealand Crown pharmaceutical buying agency (similar to PBAC), where he manages $1 billion in spending. Previously he has served as CEO of four different organisations and, importantly, one previous role was as the establishment manager of the New Zealand National Ambulance Sector Office. NASO is the joint venture for ambulance matters between the two main government funders. One of Mark s reasons for serving in the establishment role for NASO is that he was a paramedic in the 1970s in the USA. It has been many years since he has worked in the field; and while he retains a connection and passion for emergency services, his career has moved in a different direction. He acknowledges that one of the criteria for the PA Community Director position excludes paramedics.
