Vol. 11 Issue 10 Nov. 12, 2004 Doors to open at 7 p.m. for Dylan concert Doors will open at 7 p.m. for music legend Bob Dylan s 8 p.m. performance on Thursday, Nov. 11, in St. Bonaventure University s Reilly Center Arena. No use of cameras, audio- or video-recording equipment will be permitted by any member of the audience or media. Dylan, who has not performed in the area in more than seven years, has recently released his autobiography titled Chronicles, Volume 1, reviewed throughout the country, and has been featured on the cover of the Oct. 4 Newsweek magazine. Chronicles, Volume 1 hit stores on Oct. 5. This long-awaited memoir is a riveting look at Bob Dylan s life through his own eyes. He comments on various artists throughout his life that influenced him to play the music that he has become so famous for today. According to New York Daily News, the book is drenched with song references and history that s loving, true and probably as close as we ll get to a window into Dylan s guarded soul. According to Newsweek, Dylan worked for three years, on and off, to complete the book on a manual typewriter in capital letters so it would be easier for an assistant to read and retype. Outside of his book release, Dylan has six or eight songs written for a new album. He also wants to start re-recording many of his old songs. Ignatius Brady, O.F.M and contributed to the revival of the graduate teaching program in the early 1970s. Fr. Ignatius was one of the early members of the faculty in the Franciscan Institute who taught friars seeking to understand their own intellectual tradition, said Fr. Michael Blastic. Fr. Ignatius taught at various institutions in the United States, including the Catholic University of America, then was assigned by the Minister General to the Collegio San Bonaventura, Quaracchi (outside Florence, Italy) and appointed prefect of its theological section. He continued in teaching, research and ministry for more than 40 years, serving as a theological consultant for the Union of Major Superiors. The life work of Ignatius Brady is identified with the English Speaking Conference of Friars Minor through its Commission on the Franciscan Intellectual Tradition, said Fr. Blastic. In 1962, the Order of Friars Minor conferred on Fr. Ignatius the title of Lector Jubilatus, the highest recognition afforded his teachers, and in 1974, he received an honorary doctorate from St. Bonaventure. The more than 40 years of uninterrupted professional and recognized activity in teaching, formation, research and pastoral care tell eloquently the stature and intensity of his productive period of work, and merit our gratitude and special recognition, said Fr. John Vaughn, Minister General, when Fr. Ignatius returned to the United States for health reasons in 1983. He died on Aug. 4, 1990. Those interested in attending the Convocation and reception are asked to make reservations with Jude Ann Yehl at the Franciscan Institute, (716) 375-2595, by Nov. 10.
