FORT CARSON CHILD SUPERVISION POLICY (FLYER)
POST FIRE RESTRICTIONS In the Pikes Peak region fire danger can change quickly with hot and dry conditions. Wildfires can happen year-round. State and local government may place different levels of fire restrictions based on the fire danger rating. In most cases we use both state and local actions when determining any fire restriction level on Fort Carson. An increased level of restriction may be enforced on Fort Carson as determined by the commander. At this time there are no increased restrictions formally in place on post, however the normal permanent fire restrictions and safety practices apply: --No fireworks allowed, except approved and commercially conducted performances. --No open burning, except cooking fires and campfires within permanently constructed fire grates in developed campgrounds and picnic grounds. --No open flames allowed inside government facilities except for religious purposes or when coordinated and approved by the Fire Prevention Office. --Charcoal grills, gas grills and commercially produced fire pits are allowed, however they must be placed at least 10 feet away from any combustible structures, fences or other miscellaneous combustible items. Further distances may be required dependent on the surrounding areas. NOTE: BBC Housing has the authority to increase restriction or ban the use of such items in housing areas. --Charcoals shall be properly extinguished and insure they are completely cold prior to disposal. --Caution must be taken to properly dispose of cigarette butts and smoke in designated areas only. --Troop training activities are subject to daily bans and restrictions based on fire danger rating. This is coordinated through Range Control. Fires on Fort Carson can have a serious impact, therefore it is everybody's responsibility to be safe and prevent fires. Always be aware of conditions, high fire danger days should include postponing certain activities. Know the restrictions where you are, as they may differ.
