About The Grants Grantor: Rhode Island State Council for the Arts Champlin Van Beuren Charitable Foundation Gift to CFP: $187,500 $94,000 $118,800 Modifications to the Hall that the Grants support: Mission of grantor: Modifications enhance arts programming: - Common Fence Music reception area - Increase utilization of existing space with more arts related activities (summer YMCA arts camps and afterschool arts activities) - Gallery Promotes careful planning for capital improvement, preservation and renovation projects for public and nonprofit artistic, performance centers, historic sites, museums and cultural art centers around the state ADA Accessibility and Compliance - Elevator - Renovation of stairways Helping those who do good do more through strategic investments in non-profit organizations in each of the 39 RI townships, many investments focused on increasing accessibility. Update the façade of the Hall and create a modern and inviting streetscape - re-siding and modernization of the building - addition of a terraced plaza for an inviting main entrance - increased green space - and a safe traffic circle drop-off to solve building access and ADA compliance issues. The vbcf invests in the quality of life and the quality of place of Aquidneck Island and surrounding communities, focusing on supporting projects and programs in four priority areas: Strong Starts, Healthy Lifestyles, Community Prosperity, and Excellence in the Commons
Deliverables Grantor: Rhode Island State Council for the Arts Champlin Van Beuren Charitable Foundation Why CFP got the grant: Arts programming,gallery, Common Fence Music We are a Center for all of Portsmouth to enjoy (commitment to reach beyond CFP); we are much more than a Community Hall Community impact/prosperity; Healthy connected community Deliverables: Increase in arts programming; increase utilization of the space; Success of new Center linked back to RISCA funding; CFMusic reception space; Gallery upgrade (lighting/wall space) Installation of elevator code compliant stairs 1) Expanding geographic reach of the Hall; changing perception of our Hall from what is sometimes perceived as an exclusive community center to an Arts, Wellness and Community Center serving all of Portsmouth and beyond 2) Professionalizing the renter and user experience (paid hall manager; meeting all ADA and compliance standards) 3) Diversifying programming (lean in on arts) 4) Investing in storage space to free main room from clutter 5) Investing in Gallery space 6) Reception space for CFMusic 7) Deepen partnerships with Newport YMCA and other non-profits
