Navarro College received a Carl Perkins Leadership Grant from the THECB Interactive ecourse with links, sites, and sources available to deepen understanding and knowledge of Career & Technical Ed. Primary Goal: Convey a greater understanding of the role CTE plays in leading graduates to high skill, high wage, high demand employment by providing business and industry with a skilled and knowledgeable workforce 3

Module 2: Components of CTE Programs Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this module, one will have an understanding of: Certificates and degrees available to CTE students Components of CTE at the Secondary & Post Secondary Level An understanding of the Career Clusters associated with CTE Various opportunities for learning via CTE programs Cooperative Learning Internships Practicums House Bill 5 Information to be added 2 12

Module 2: Components of CTE Programs Supplemental Material A Year in the Life of a CTE Advisor is a presentation created to assist advisors in keeping track of the critical tasks and focuses for each quarter. 2 13

Module 2: Components of CTE Programs Supplemental Material AchieveTexas is an education initiative sponsored and funded by the Texas Education Agency. It allows students to achieve excellence by preparing them for secondary and postsecondary opportunities. 2 14

Module 3: Identifying CTE College Credit Opportunities Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this module, one will have an understanding of: Identifying CTE programs at Texas Colleges using Texas Genuine Partnerships available between the High School and Colleges CTE Dual Credit Articulated Credit (Formerly Tech Prep) Transferability and Articulation Agreements between the Community College CTE programs and Universities leading to a Baccalaureate (BAAS) 3 15

Module 3: Identifying CTE Programs Available via the Local Community College Supplemental Material Texas Genuine is a Perkins funded project created by El Paso Community College. It lists all CTE programs offered at Texas Community Colleges. 3 16

Module 4: Advising CTE Students Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this module, one will have an understanding of: Best practices for advising CTE students including: Special Populations Non Traditional Veterans 4 18

Module 4: Advising CTE Students Supplemental Materials College For All Texans is a non profit support organization for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. This site is available in both English and Spanish! 4 19

Module 4: Advising CTE Students Supplemental Materials The Texas Veterans Portal is a resource for veterans, their families, and their survivors. A compilation of resources from many government agencies is on the site to offer assistance, services, and benefits Veterans need. 4 20

Module 4: Advising CTE Students Supplemental Materials The Career & Technical Special Populations Training & Resource Center is a resource of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. It provides materials and resources on a variety of special needs and CTE related topics. 4 21

Module 5: Carl Perkins Student Support Services Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this module, one will have an understanding of: Carl Perkins and Federal Funding Advising and Counseling Office College for All Texans: Go Centers: Satellite, Mobile, Traditional G Force P 16 Initiative 5 22

Module 5: Carl Perkins Student Support Services Supplemental Material 5 The Perkins Collaborative Resource Network is a resource and information sharing portal for Federal, State, and local policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders to join in the CTE transformation! It includes information on current CTE legislation, grants, and accountability data, as well as resources for developing and implementing rigorous, stateof the art career and technical education programs 23

Module 5: Carl Perkins Career Center Services Supplemental Material Traditional, Satellite & Mobile Go Centers are avenues available to provide college information to prospective students. 5 24

Module 5: Carl Perkins Career Center Services Supplemental Material 5 The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) is encouraging and fostering the development of Regional P 16 Councils to serve as the change agents that can create a college going culture and well educated communities in Texas. 25

Module 6: Becoming a College Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this module, one will have an understanding of: Higher Education Motivational Resources Tools to guide students through College Admissions Process Financial Reality Checks Preparing students for their First Day of College Registering for classes Paying tuition and fees Purchasing textbooks and supplies Attending class 6 26

Module 6: Becoming a College Student Supplemental Materials Generation Texas is a product of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) designed to make applying to college an attainable goal and it provides resources to make the process easier to understand. 6 27

Module 6: Becoming a College Student Supplemental Materials Reality check allows students to find out just how much income they will need to support their desired lifestyle, and then proposes occupations that will provide that amount of income. 6 28
