The CSJ Awards 2018 Social Enterprise Applications will stay open until 17.00hrs on Friday 13th October 2017
About The CSJ Awards The CSJ Awards is an annual high-profile, high-impact event in the Westminster calendar at which the CSJ showcases and rewards grassroots charities and voluntary organisations from local communities throughout the UK that have developed effective and innovative ways of addressing a variety of entrenched social issues. These organisations often work with some of the hardest to reach people in the country. Previous winners have included those who have helped to rehabilitate addicts and ex-offenders, have improved educational outcomes or strengthened families in our most deprived areas or have brought healing and connection to those isolated by mental illness or old age. Each winning organisation receives a prize of 10,000 and the rare chance to have their work profiled at the Awards ceremony in London to a large audience of high-ranking politicians, celebrities, major philanthropists, leaders from the private and voluntary sector, and the media. It also provides the chance for these key influencers to witness the most effective grassroots methods for turning lives around in disadvantaged communities throughout the UK. We are also delighted to be running a new award this year to find the most outstanding Responsible Business. We are running this award to encourage those businesses that foster high levels of staff engagement in exceptional outreach work to their communities and beyond. The prize will be a topgrade political event. The recipients of these awards too often go unnoticed, despite their remarkable work and the perseverance of the individuals involved. It is crucial that the unique voice of these sectors is heard in Westminster, and that their work is supported more broadly. The contacts that the CSJ Awards help recipients to make as well as the prize money have an important and lasting effect, and the CSJ continues to work with the winners to help their work impact further. What the CSJ Awards judges look for The CSJ Award s independent judging panel seeks to identify outstanding grassroots charities, social enterprises and responsible businesses that are effective in helping people find a pathway out of poverty and tackle the root causes of poverty. They should be innovative in their solutions, provide a tailor-made service that addresses the needs of those they work with,, are sustainable and long-term, and are scalable and replicable across the UK The application forms are not intended to trip applicants up, rather they intend to provide applicants with the opportunity to demonstrate all of the above qualities and really showcase their outstanding, life-changing work. We are so looking forward to hearing from you and learning about your amazing work. You are welcome to apply if you are an organisation working with the most marginalised in our nation across the CSJ s 5 root causes of poverty pathways. These are educational failure, problem debt, family breakdown, addiction and worklessness. Guidelines Applications will stay open until 17.00hrs on Friday 13th October 2017 All applicants must not exceed an annual turnover of 3 million and must be based in the UK There is one application form per category.
