March 2013 Members of the Roger Williams University community: On Tuesday May 7th, 2013, the Student Senate and Department of Student Programs & Leadership will be hosting the 18th annual Student Involvement Recognition Banquet. This is a special evening planned to recognize and honor the outstanding achievements of dedicated clubs, organizations, student leaders, advisors, and faculty. In order to select the honorees for the evening, we are enlisting your assistance by asking for nominations. Enclosed in this packet are nomination forms for a number of awards. Please nominate yourself or any other student, club, organization, advisor, or faculty member that meets the stated criteria. Fill out the forms as completely as possible. Nominations that are carefully constructed and thorough will certainly be more competitive in the selection process. All nomination forms must either be e-mailed to StudentPrograms@rwu.edu or be submitted to the office of Student Programs & Leadership in the Rec Center by 5:00 PM on Wednesday March 20, 2013. The Award for Individual Excellence Nomination Form Nominee: The Award for Individual Excellence: The Roger Williams University Award for Individual Excellence in Student Life was created to recognize a student leader who truly exemplifies engaged, meaningful leadership throughout the current academic year at Roger Williams University in some aspect of student life. The individual will not only have contributed to his/her club, organization, or group, but also have affected the University community as a whole. This award is available to any undergraduate student. Club Sport of the Year Nomination Form Club Sports Name: Club Programs completed during the 2012-2013 Academic Year: The Club Sport of the Year Award wishes: To recognize and commend the club sports whose efforts are shown both within their sport and within the Roger Williams University community. The recipient should exemplify effective promotion, sportsmanship, recruitment and retention, and radiated a positive image of the University. Late recommendations will not be considered! ROGER WILLIAMS UNIVERSITY DR. MARK GOULD AWARD FOR COMMITMENT TO STUDENT LEARNING Nomination and Reference Form The Dr. Mark Gould Award for Commitment to Student Learning is sponsored by the Roger Williams University Student Senate. This award was renamed to commemorate the late Dr. Mark Gould, who put forth the highest level of commitment to students both inside and out of the classroom. Dr. Gould was a well respected and highly regarded professor at Roger Williams whose work with students and dedication to their learning exemplified all the qualities inherent in this award. The Student Senate welcomes the opportunity to recognize faculty members who are excellent teachers and who devote a great deal of time and energy to students at the University, both inside and outside of the classroom. All full and part-time faculty members are eligible to be considered for this award, except for those who are previous recipients of the award. More than one nomination or recommendation may be made. The selection committee will assess the strengths of all candidates based on the three categories listed: 1. Commitment to students both in and out of the classroom 2. Personal impact on learning 3. Active participation in campus life Nominations are solicited from anyone within the University community. Please read the guidelines before filling out the information requested on the reverse side. The completed form must be returned to the Department of Student Programs & Leadership in the Campus Recreation Center by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 20, 2013. The Gould Award will be given to the recipient at the Student Life Recognition Ceremony on Sunday May 5 th, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. and then announced to the University community. Roger Williams University Karen R. Haskell Student Leader Award - 2013 To the distinguished students, staff, faculty and administration of RWU: A true leader, it has been said, has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others. The Karen R. Haskell Student Leader Award was created to recognize a senior student leader who truly exemplifies leadership throughout their career at Roger Williams University. This individual would not only have contributed to his or her organization, but have impacted the university community as a whole. Karen Haskell fully embraced the concept of student learning though student involvement in the campus community, and this individual should have the qualities that would aid in continuing that legacy. Please feel free to nominate someone that you feel deserves this award based on the criteria mentioned above. Fill out the forms as complete as possible. This award will be announced at the Student Affairs Awards Ceremony on May 6 th.
