KENTUCKY... $600.00 STAGING SHAKESPEARE RESIDENCY Founded in1949, Kentucky Shakespeare currently serves 108,000+ people annually through the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival in Central Park, education programs in schools, public performances, and community outreach. With this grant, Kentucky Shakespeare was able to travel to Paul G. Blazer High School in Ashland, KY to hold 1-2 hour sessions each day for three days, in which the students involved worked through a rehearsal process using Shakespearian text to create a staged, student driven performance piece. This program provided exposure to the arts for English and Drama students who, because of a school spending freeze, would otherwise not have the opportunity to experience such an opportunity. WEST VIRGINIA... $800.00 LET S GET DIGITAL The Cabell Huntington Coalition for the Homeless was founded with the belief that everyone deserves access to adequate food, clothing, shelter and healthcare. Harmony House provides those basic resources, along with housing and employment support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Cabell and Wayne counties. Announcements and other necessary information is currently distributed through multitudinous flyers, resulting in confusion and missed messages. This grant will provide funds to purchase a SmartTV and mount to be used as a digital message board, reducing the need for printed flyers and centralizing information. (Funded, in part, by the WV NIP Endowment Fund) CAMMACK CHILDREN S CENTER.....WEST VIRGINIA... $3,000.00 CAMMACK CENTER FOR SUSTAINABILITY Cammack Children s Center is a state facility that houses and educates students with a wide range of issues including truancy and CPS cases. The Center strives to provide a homelike setting where the youth can grow, develop skills and become productive members of society. These grant funds will help purchase a greenhouse kit for STEM education. (Funded, in part, by the WV NIP Endowment Fund) AMERICAN RED CROSS SOUTHWEST WEST VIRGINIA WEST VIRGINIA.$1,500.00 HOME FIRE CAMPAIGN IN WAYNE AND CABELL COUNTIES Together with partners, the Red Cross Home Fire Campaign combines grassroots neighbor to neighbor engagement and comprehensive marketing and public relations outreach to decrease injuries and needless loss of life from home fires. The Campaign focuses on populations more vulnerable to home fires by providing lifesaving fire prevention and preparedness information and tools, as well as making home visits. With these grant funds, the Red Cross will purchase and install smoke alarms in lowincome Wayne County neighborhoods. (Funded, in part, by the WV NIP Endowment Fund) IRONTON IN BLOOM.. OHIO..$3,800.00 IRONTON IN BLOOM DOWNTOWN PUBLIC FLORAL MAINTENANCE INITIATIVE
Ironton in Bloom has developed a downtown floral and landscape initiative with the primary purpose of re-establishment of pride and ultimate reinvestment in the City of Ironton. That project started as a small area of downtown 10 years ago and has now grown to several city revitalization areas. Ironton in Bloom has decided to provide watering and floral maintenance services in-house. This grant will help purchase necessary tools and equipment to complete watering and maintenance tasks. THE WILD RAMP... WEST VIRGINIA... $3,800.00 ROLLING RAMP: INCENTIVES AND EDUCATION FOR HEALTHY EATING IN THE TRI STATE The Wild Ramp seeks to support local farmers and food entrepreneurs by connecting them with resources for growth and development and to ensure that consumers get healthy, locally-sourced food. In partnership with the SNAP benefit program, The Wild Ramp is launching a mobile market called the Rolling Ramp that will provide fresh, local foods and promote healthful eating in low-income areas, where food access is limited because of location and transportation. Kentucky.... $1,810.00 Youth Soccer Program While the YMCA has offered team sport opportunities for decades, the soccer program has depended upon Ashland Central Park. The program has outgrown the limited space. Faced with a new opportunity to expand and develop their own fields, they need to purchase equipment. This grant will provide goals and corner flags for their new fields, contingent upon proof the project has received enough money to be completed by December 31, 2018. BUDDY S SENSORY EXCHANGE.. Kentucky.....$5,000.00 Central Park Sensory Garden Buddy s Sensory Exchange serves special needs children and their families by providing specialized equipment to low-income families and support groups for special needs families and caregivers. In pursuance of this mission, the organization seeks to create a Sensory Garden in Central Park in order to provide a safe space for special needs children in the midst of one of Ashland s busiest attractions. This grant will help BSE purchase equipment and materials needed to complete this project. Funded, in part, by the Putnam Agency Fund. CITY OF IRONTON....Ohio...$1,766.48 Rotary Fountain Improvements The City of Ironton and the Ironton Rotary Club work together to maintain the Rotary Fountain located downtown at 3 rd and Center Streets. This grant will help update the public water feature by purchasing a new pump and underwater lighting. KIWANIS DAY CARE CENTER.West Virginia. $4,584.00 New Playground The Kiwanis Day Care Center is the oldest continuously operating day care in West Virginia. Their 25 year old playground equipment was recently inspected and failed to meet current safety codes. They received a large grant to purchase the playground
equipment, but they are required to raise matching funds to cover other expenses of the project. This grant will provide matching funds for the new playground. This grant is funded, in part, by the WV NIP Endowment Fund. LILY S PLACE West Virginia...$3,720.00 Baby Vitals Lily s Place provides medical and therapeutic care to infants with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, while offering support and education to their families. Some of their current medical equipment is inadequate for the unique needs of the babies served by the program. This grant will help purchase a digital scale and vital signs monitor. This grant is funded, in part, by the Neal Family Fund for Health and Wellness. TRI-STATE STEM+M EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL..Tri-State.....$3,200.00 Robotics Component in Engineering Pathway The STEM+M High School provides educational opportunities for students interested in pursuing math and science careers. The engineering career pathway includes basic engineering courses and will utilize robotics to provide hands on learning experiences. This grant will help purchase 2 robotics kits.
