Unsiog; 2 and 3 \VHEREAS, I Jvfina'trentai Dos Na Liheslaturan Gu!ihan seeks to honor and 4 acknowledge those individuals whose professional lives, military service and civic 5 endeavors serve to enhance the island of Guam; and 6 \VHEREAS, prior to her military career, Jovita worked as a Library 7 Assistant/File Clerk with the Bureau of Statistics and Plans, government of Guam; 8 as a Cashier at Mark's Shopping Center; as a Bank Teller at the Bank of Hawaii; as 9 a Clerk Typist III/Budget Analyst Assistant at the Mayors Council of Guam; and she 10 was the host of the locally produced television show, faland A1agazine; and 11 WHEREAS, for the past thirty-one (31) years, Sergeant First Class (SFC) 12 Jovita Unsiog of the Guam Army National Guard rendered faithful and valuable 13 military service to both the Nation and the island of Guam; and 14 \VHEREAS, Sergeant First Class (SFC) Jovita Unsiog enlisted in the Guam 15 Army National Guard as an Administrative Specialist in September 1983; and was 16 an IDT (part-time) soldier in the 72lst Support and Service Battalion, Fort Juan 17 Muna, Guam. In November 1989, SFC Unsiog began her foll-time career as a 18 Active-Guard Reserve (AGR) working as a Military Pay Clerk assigned to the 19 United States Property and Fiscal Office (USPFO); and 20 \VHEREAS, throughout her thirty-one (31 )-year career with the Guam Army 21 National Guard, SFC Unsiog moved up the ranks within the finance office of the 22 USPFO, starting as a Military Pay Clerk and moving up to Supervisor. She then was 23 assigned to the accounting section and served as a Senior Accounting Non- 24 Commissioned Officer (NCO). Through her hard work and diligence, she was 25 tasked to be an Operations Non-Commissioned Officer-in-Charge (NCOIC). She 26 then finished as the Grants Officer Representative for the USPFO, managing the 27 Master Cooperative Agreement with the government of Guam's Department of 28 Military Affairs; and 2
l \VHEREAS, Sergeant First Class (SFC) Jovita Unsiog had received many 2 awards to include: the Army Commendation Medal; the Army Achievement Medal; 3 the Army Good Conduct Medal; the Army Reserve Components Achievement 4 Medal; the National Defense Medal; the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; 5 the Humanitarian Service Medal; the Armed Forces Reserve Medal; the Army NCO 6 Professional Development Ribbon; the Army Service Ribbon; the Guam 7 Commendation Medal; the Guam Faithful Service Medal; and the Guam National 8 Guard Recruiting Ribbon; and 9 WHEREAS, Sergeant First Class (SFC) Jovita Unsiog engaged in l 0 extraordinary and outstanding military, professional, and civilian careers; and she 11 has earned the admiration, esteem and affection of her friends, family and 12 colleagues; and 13 WHEREAS, members and former members of the Armed Services from the 14 island of Guam who have served honorably in U.S. wars deserve a special salute 15 from I 1\,lina'Trentai Dos Na Liheslaturan Guahan; now therefore, be it 16 RESOLVED, that I l14ina'trentai Dos Na Liheslaturan G1ulhan does hereby, 17 on behalf of the people of Guam, commend and congratulate Sergeant First Class 18 (SFC) Jovita Unsiog for her faithful service to our nation, our island, and its people 19 upon the occasion of her retirement; and does further extend Un Dangkolo Na Si 20 Yu'os l'vfa'ase' to her for her many years of distinguished military service; and be it 21 further 22 RESOLVED, that the Speaker certify, and the Legislative Secretary attest to, 23 the adoption hereat: and that copies of the same be thereafter transmitted to Sergeant 3
