It was the first such honor of Elegado s career. The 5-6 guard scored 19 points and added five rebounds, eight assists, a steal and a blocked shot in Cal Poly s 70-65 win over Hawai i in Thursday s Big West opener. She nearly had her third perfect game from the free throw line this season, going 7-for-8 and following 9-for-9 and 12-for-12 performances earlier. In the Mustangs 56-41 victory over Central Coast rival UC Santa Barbara, Elegado posted 11 points, four rebounds and six assists. She finished the game with 389 career assists, putting her just one shy of tying former All-American Laura Buehning for No. 2 in school history. Elegado is also now 55 points back of No. 4 all-time at Cal Poly, and three 3-pointers shy of a career total of 212, which would tie for the ninth-most in the 28-year history of the shot. The Mustangs topped Hawai i at home, 70- @CalPolyWBB1 65, and defeated rival UC Santa Barbara on the road, 56-41. A tough week awaits Cal Poly as the club hosts Long Beach State and CSUN. No Sub Needed: Sophomore Hannah Gilbert played all 40 minutes against UH, the first time in her young career she went the distance. Gilbert responded with an 18-point, six-rebound effort, setting a personal best in scoring in the tight win. Back On The Radar: After averaging 13.5 points per game over her first six contests, senior Ariana Elegado has picked it up over her last eight games. She is averaging 17.0 points during that span, hitting double figures in each of those games. It marked the second consecutive win @WBBTitans for the Titans over the Highlanders to kick off conference play. This week CSF hits the road for matchups against UC Irvine and UC Davis. Dominate The Boards: The Titans outrebounded the Higlanders 51-35, the first time this season CSF has recorded 50 boards in a game. Leading that charge was sophomore Samantha Logan who recorded an incredible 17 rebounds. That figure is tied for the second-most in a game this season among Big West clubs. Chante s Big Year: Chante Miles is one of four players in the NCAA to rank in the top 40 in scoring and assists. Miles is 35th in scoring at 19.4 per game and 37th in assists at 5.1 per contest. A Little Flavor Off The Bench: Senior Cinnamon Lister came off the bench against UH and delivered like a starter. Lister scored 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting and added six rebounds and two assists. Defense, Defense, Defense: CSUN s defense has been a staple all season. The club ranks second in scoring defense (60.1), tops in field goal defense (.368), third in three-point field goal percentage defense (.299) and second in blocks (3.81). The 49ers will look to continue their torrid start with a trip to the Central Coast this week for matchups against Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara. One Point A Minute, That s It: The 40 points Long Beach State gave up to UCI was a season-low. It also was the least the club has given up since allowing 39 to Cal State Fullerton on January 19, 2013. National Recognition: The 49ers have received some national acclaim as the club has received votes in the AP poll for the second consecutive week. The club also finds itself at 45 in the RPI after their torrid start. The Numbers Game...0.4: Freshman Raven Benton hit a three-pointer with just 0.4 left on the game clock to provide Long Beach State with the winning points against UC Davis. For Openers: UC Davis split its road trip to open up Big West play, winning against CSUN, 60-49, and losing to Long Beach State, 63-60. UCD returns home this week for a pair of conference games against UC Riverside and Cal They Know How To Shoot: UC Davis can probably lay claim as the top shooting team in the Big West. The club leads the league in field goal percentage (.440) and threepoint field goal percentage (.377). Among the rest of the nation, the Aggies rank 39th and 13th in those categories, respectively. Did You Say 20?!: Trailing by seven with 8:51 remaining in the second half against the Matadors, UC Davis went on an incredible 20-2 run to end the contest. CSUN s only points during that time came at the foul line with 23 seconds remaining. The Numbers Game...2: Senior Sydnee Fipps is now second all-time in scoring in program history with 1,408 points. The Anteaters have a lone game on their @UCIwbb docket this week, a home encounter against Orange County rival Cal State Fullerton. 15s Are Wild: Sophomore Mokun Fajemisin recorded a career-high 15 rebounds against LBSU, just narrowly missing a double double with nine points. In the following game against the Highlanders, sophomore Brittany Glassow collected a career-high 15 rebounds to go along with seven points. Turning It Over: After committing just 28 turnovers in the three games prior to the start of conference play, the Eaters struggled in that department against the 49ers and Highlanders. UCR hits the road for its Big West games this week, traveling to UC Davis and Hawai i. Crain Is Back At It: After a sluggish first half against the Anteaters, junior Brittany Crain turned it on to lead the Highlanders to the win. Crain scored 22 of her game-high 31 points in the second half. It marked the fifth 30-point game of the season for Crain and the eighth of her career. Take Care II: UC Riverside leads the Big West and ranks sixth in the NCAA in turnovers per game at 11.6. The team has committed 10 or fewer turnovers on six occasions this season. Roper Bombing Away: Freshman Makala Roper leads the team and is tied for 10th in the Big West with 21 made threes. She has accounted for 66% of UCSB s made baskets from beyond the arc. The Numbers Game...6.9: UC Santa Barbara ranks fourth in the Big West with 6.9 steals per game. Hawai i 8-7 (0-2) For Openers: Hawai i lost two Big West games on the mainland last week, falling to Cal Poly, 70-65, and CSUN, 53-45. Briana s Three Brigade: Sophomore Briana Harris came in off the bench against Cal Poly ready to go, scoring a team-high 15 points on five three-pointers. The five threes were a career-high. Getting Her Chance: Freshman Megan Huff had an impressive stat line in her first career start against the Matadors. In just her fourth game of the season, Huff had 15 points, nine rebounds, five blocks and two steals in 32 minutes.
