It was the first such honor of Elegado s career. The 5-6 guard scored 19 points and added five rebounds, eight assists, a steal and a blocked shot in Cal Poly s 70-65 win over Hawai i in Thursday s Big West opener. She nearly had her third perfect game from the free throw line this season, going 7-for-8 and following 9-for-9 and 12-for-12 performances earlier. In the Mustangs 56-41 victory over Central Coast rival UC Santa Barbara, Elegado posted 11 points, four rebounds and six assists. She finished the game with 389 career assists, putting her just one shy of tying former All-American Laura Buehning for No. 2 in school history. Elegado is also now 55 points back of No. 4 all-time at Cal Poly, and three 3-pointers shy of a career total of 212, which would tie for the ninth-most in the 28-year history of the shot. No Sub Needed: Sophomore Hannah Gilbert played all 40 minutes against UH, the first time in her young career she went the distance. Gilbert responded with an 18-point, six-rebound effort, setting a personal best in scoring in the tight win. Back On The Radar: After averaging 13.5 points per game over her first six contests, senior Ariana Elegado has picked it up over her last eight games. She is averaging 17.0 points during that span, hitting double figures in each of those games. Leading that charge was sophomore Samantha Logan who recorded an incredible 17 rebounds. That figure is tied for the second-most in a game this season among Big West clubs. Chante s Big Year: Chante Miles is one of four players in the NCAA to rank in the top 40 in scoring and assists. Miles is 35th in scoring at 19.4 per game and 37th in assists at 5.1 per contest. A Little Flavor Off The Bench: Senior Cinnamon Lister came off the bench against UH and delivered like a starter. Lister scored 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting and added six rebounds and two assists. Defense, Defense, Defense: CSUN s defense has been a staple all season. The club ranks second in scoring defense (60.1), tops in field goal defense (.368), third in three-point field goal percentage defense (.299) and second in blocks (3.81).
