P A G E 12 Outreach P A G E 12 Military Families Ministry Back to School Drive For our local military kids Our initiative for end of summer was the Back to School drive for our local military kids. It was on Thursday, August 16 th. Our group traveled to a local military unit to help sort school supplies and meet some of our local Service Members and staff. A big THANK YOU to all that came out and helped! One of our initiatives, however, hasn t taken time off, and that is our Coups for Troops drive. GAC has been assigned 6 military installations to support with coupons, and this is a HUGE number! Presently we are only able to support 3 addresses monthly, so YOUR HELP IS NEEDED! Our goal is to be able to mail coupons to each installation monthly, so we need more coupons. Ask your friends, family, co-workers, the guy on the bus, anyone you can think of. Coupons can be expired by up to 60 days and need to say Manufacture s Coupon on them. No need to cut them out, we have partnered with the JOY Club as well as in-house volunteers that are happy to clip them for you just bring them into GAC and drop them into the Coups for Troops box behind the Information Desk. Looking forward to serving those that served with you! Chrissie Usher Chrissie.usher@comcast.net 724 322 9723

The Bag Brigade Bag Brigade Full Bellies = Fulfilled Kids P A G E 13 PA It's that time of the year again...school's about to start! And that means the Bag Brigade is getting ready to go "back-to school" as well. We've been collecting items for the bags as well as getting donations from different organizations to help defray the costs of purchasing food. It's been a busy summer! Our first delivery date is September 14th, which means our first packing night (open pack night) is Tuesday, September 11th. Our schedule basically stays the same as last year. Here's a reminder: 1st Thursday JOY Club 10:00 a.m. 2nd Tuesday Open to all 6:30 p.m. 3rd Wednesday Youth group 6:15 p.m. 4th Wednesday AWANA 6:15 p.m. 5th Wednesday AWANA 6:15 p.m. We've had to adjust the open pack night with the addition of more outside groups wanting to help. Ashlee will now be in charge of scheduling for this night. We've had as many as 4 different groups show up on the same night and it really turns into a circus!!! (But that's a good issue to have!) There have been youth groups from other churches join us as well as local boy scout and girl scout troops. And we were really excited to see a few of the clubs from the school district come out to help! If you're affiliated with a group or organization that would like to get involved, please let Ashlee know. Her email is: Angelashs9@yahoo.com. The packing doesn't take longer than 1/2 hour, so it's not something that will take up much time. We'd love to see some new faces...maybe even some of our own church family...please come and join us! Just a few reminders for you: Whatever food items you purchase, they need to be a single-serving size. We aren't just in need of one thing. The bags include breakfast items, soups, fruit, snacks, etc. We're happy for any and all donations! And keep saving your plastic bags. We were going through 170 a week in the last school year! Also remember that we are always in need of personal care items such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. Perhaps you know of someone that will save or purchase some of these items for you...please ask them! In the months to come we'll be sharing some stories of how different people are thinking outside the box to help the Bag Brigade with donations. You'll be amazed! Thank you for being so willing to help us in this ministry. Thank you for the excitement you show when you speak with us about this outreach. We look forward to the school year that is upon us and all that the Lord has planned for the Bag Brigade through our church. It's not about us...it's about God using us for His purpose! We are blessed!!! Item of the Month for September You can drop your items off in the Café in the donation container! Thank You!

Starting Point PAGE 14 Find your starting point! You're Invited! Anyone having a desire to learn a little more about Gospel Alliance Church, please join us for Starting Point class on the last Sunday of each month, at 11:00 a.m. We will share topics such as Worship and Prayer, in the Senior Pastor Office. JOY Club Just Older Youth JOY club took the month of August off but we will be meeting on Thursday, September 6th- at 11:00 AM.
