6 PLACES TO GET THE BEST INSTAGRAM SHOT NO MATTER WHICH CAMPUS YOU RE VISITING, BCU IS FULL OF PERFECT INSTAGRAM LOCATIONS JUST WAITING TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED. WE'VE PICKED OUR SIX FAVOURITES FOR YOU. THE CURZON AND PARKSIDE BUILDINGS THE BIRMINGHAM SKYLINE UNIVERSITY LOCKS CANAL BRAND NEW CITY SOUTH BUILDING MARGARET STREET WHAT IS IT? VITTORIA STREET WHAT IS IT? WHAT IS IT? Our Curzon Building is home to our Business, Law, Social, English and NTI students. The 63 million project opened in 2015 and its 100,000 square foot extension Curzon B is literally weeks old. The Parkside Building houses our Arts, Design and Media courses; opening in 2013, it was the first phase in the transformation of our City Centre Campus. BEST PLACE TO TAKE THE PHOTO The far end of Eastside Park gives you the best view. It allows you to capture the park as well as a full shot of the Curzon and Parkside Buildings. Get the lighting right and you ll see the sun bouncing off the red beams of Curzon. 20 WHAT IS IT? Birmingham features several instantly recognisable buildings, including the Bullring, the Cube and the Library of Birmingham. And you can see most of them on the horizon from our City Centre Campus. BEST PLACE TO TAKE THE PHOTO The steps in between Jennens Court and the Woodman pub provide a great location to get a picture of the city centre skyline featuring the famous Selfridges building. Get high enough up and you can see the steeple of St Martin s church poking out the top. We recommend venturing out into the city once the day is over to get up close to these landmarks and see just how stunning they are. WHAT IS IT? The Digbeth Branch Canal flows past the front of our University Locks halls of residence and separates the accommodation from our Curzon Building. With Birmingham being famous for its canals more than Venice in fact it s great that we have one at the heart of our campus. BEST PLACE TO TAKE THE PHOTO The guardrail opposite the entrance to University Locks provides the best view. Point your camera up towards the canal and you get a nice angle of a bridge and some greenery overlooking the water. WHAT IS IT? The brand new 41 million extension at our City South Campus will be opening its doors for the first in spring this year. It will house state-of-the-art facilities for our Health, Education, and Life students. BEST PLACE TO TAKE THE PHOTO You can be one of the first to grab a great picture of the new building from the road entrance off Westbourne Road. Its brick and metal work make for a striking building. Margaret Street is our oldest building, dating back to 1885, and is the home of our School of Art. Thanks to the Victorian architecture, it looks impressive both inside and out. BEST PLACE TO TAKE THE PHOTO The archways, beamed ceiling and mosaic floor just past the reception desk give you an impressive image. If you manage to catch the sun beams shooting through the windows it makes for an even more stunning picture. Vittoria Street is home to the School of Jewellery, and much like Margaret Street, it is beautiful from whichever angle you look at it. This is only enhanced internally by our students jewellery designs that are on display throughout the building. BEST PLACE TO TAKE THE PHOTO The main entrance provides the best image. Looking up to capture the modern open interior, while also capturing the newest creations on display. Look out for our photo points around the campus where you can get your own Instagram-ready memes of the day. Find a better spot? Then let us know! 21
