Call for Presentation and Workshop Proposals Deauville Beach Resort Miami Beach, Florida June 18-20, 2008 The Florida Network of Victim Witness Services and the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence are pleased to announce a call for proposals for the 2008 annual conference. This year s theme is We All Have A Voice. Listen. Presentations, workshops, and panel discussions on aspects of sexual violence and victim services are being sought. Proposals involving interactive, skillbuilding workshops are especially encouraged. Workshops and presentations of 90 minutes will be held concurrently during several breakout sessions. Presenters will receive a free conference registration. Target audience Rape crisis counselors and victim advocates, prevention educators, rape crisis program administrators, law enforcement officers, prosecutors, therapists, social workers, and medical professionals Spanish and Creole workshops The 2008 conference will feature workshops in Spanish and Haitian Creole. Proposals for presentations led in these languages are especially encouraged. Suggested topics Proposals focusing on working with diverse communities and therapeutic techniques for victims will receive special consideration. Topics include but are not limited to: Interventions for special populations Therapies for victims of sexual violence SART coordination or strategies to improve communities collaboration and response to sexual violence Model prevention programming Skill-building for rape crisis program staff Investigative or prosecution techniques New research on sexual violence issues Forensic exams and medical issues New laws regarding victim s rights or compensation Developing or funding non-profit organizations Immigration and Domestic Violence Personnel or human resource issues in non-profit organizations 1
Wellness Day, June 17 th The conference begins Tuesday, June 17 th with an optional wellness track geared toward self-care for attendees. Conference planners encourage workshop proposals on topics such as: Yoga Nutrition Tai Chi Creative Writing Theatre/Dance Painting Aroma Therapy The Workshop Proposals Form follows on the next page.
