I have not heard back from the majority of my schools (Optometry, Downstate); however, I have communicated with the GSA President at the University at Albany, especially about a new social issue ( Ban the Box ) brought to my attention. Name: Scott Turner Position: University Rep Email: scott.turner@sunysa.org SUNY Student Assembly Representative Monthly Report Schools Representing: Potsdam, Fredonia, Cortland, Plattsburgh, and Empire State Interaction with Campuses (please list by campus): Cortland- I was able to get some information from their website. I was unable to get a lot of the information that I needed, like the e-boards and personal contact info. After talking to President Mould at transitional I have come to find out that their participation has been extremely limited, mostly nonexistent. It is my goal to bring them back into the fold of SUNY SA. I have also come to understand that they would like to have a meeting with me and President Mould, something I am aiming to do at the start of next semester. In my opinion the sooner the better. The meeting needs to happen with plenty of time for them to sign up for SA. Next month I will continue to reach out to them, expanding into phone calls. I will continue to send e-mails and an introduction e-mail. E-mails were sent to the general SGA e-mail, as that was the only one on their website. I know they have three elected positions, but the rest of their SGA e-board will not be filled till the fall. Internal Committees (Please list): Rules, Campus Relations, Finance, Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Memo of support for LGBTQ+, worked on a rewrite of the blood donors equality to make sure that all info was up-to-date, setting up the EC meeting for September at SUNY Potsdam, working on a form for all my schools to fill out once a semester. Some I now have information regarding their student government contacts, some I do not. It does not really surprise me that I haven't really heard anything back from my schools at this point since the fall semester is not yet in session. Internal Committees (Please list): Campus Relations, External Relations, Finance Campus Relations- The take home from this last meeting as I understood it was to work on completing our contact list for our schools which I am currently working on. Finance- I am working to pull together some ideas for fundraising to bring back to Treasurer Drumm. That was pretty much the only assignment from our last meeting. I have already informed President Mould of this, but I also wanted to include it here. I will be unable to attend the September meeting due to work related commitments.

Name: Aishia Mortenson Position: Representative Email: aishia.mortenson@sunysa.org SUNY Student Assembly Representative Monthly Report Schools Representing: It has not yet been made clear to date, but some permutation of the following: SUNY Broome Community College, Sullivan County Community College, SUNY Ulster, SUNY Orange, Dutchess Community College, and/or Herkimer College. Interaction with Campuses (please list by campus): I have visited six Community College campuses within the last month. I have also spoken with some voting delegates in the downstate region. I have yet to make any official contact with any of the student governments (other than SUNY Broome and the downstate region) mainly because it is summer and students are not on campus, or in the office yet. I hope to have successfully reached the student governments/voting delegates once they have been clearly assigned by my Senior Director and the Fall semester is in session. Internal Committees (Please list): Campus Relations External Relations Conference Planning Campus Relations: During our last Campus Relations Committee meeting, I was nominated unanimously to be Vice Chair of the Campus Relations Committee but we did not have quorum (I think we were 1 short) to actually vote. Senior Director Shanley, wanted to ask President Mould's permission before appointing me as Acting Vice Chair of the Campus Relations Committee until quorum is established, and a vote can take place. External Relations: I have been advocating awareness for the changes in legislation regarding the chargeback formula. While rational tuition has been made priority #1 by President Mould, I hope that SUNY SA will represent the community colleges in this regard.

Conference Planning: Conference is set for Fall 2014 in Rochester. There is a lot of opportunities for Alumni to teach workshops, participate in panel discussions and much, much more. We are still sorting out workshop details and some other minor details. Spring Conference location is TBD but we have visited places and researched proposals. A decision should be made shortly. Conference calls and meetings will continue as needed. I attended a National Government and Leadership Institute for Community College Trustees in Washington DC in August of 2014. I would like to thank Secretary Devin Brady for taking the initiative to fix a communication gap that has existed as long as I have been part of the organization.

Name: Devin Sonne Position: Community College Representative Email: devin.sonne@sunysa.org SUNY Student Assembly Representative Monthly Report Schools Representing: Central East Territory: Mohawk Valley; Fulton-Montgomery; Schenectady; Hudson; Columbia Interaction with Campuses (please list by campus): I have just come on board as a rep, so I have not as of yet contacted any of my campuses. My goal for the upcoming weeks is to make a plan of action on how and when to contact my campuses, to become familiar with each of their specific areas of strengths as well as their needs. Also, I plan to familiarize myself with the benefits of SUNYSA so that I can compile a list of ways in which strong involvement with the SA can benefit each of their campuses. I plan on setting aside a specific time each week to act as 'office hours' in which the campuses know that I will be available for immediate contact as well as letting them know that if they are unable to reach out to me during that time, that I will get back to them at my earliest availability. Name: Melissa Kathan Position: Assoc. Director Government Relations- State Operated Email: melissa.kathan@sunysa.org SUNY Student Assembly Director Monthly Report Committees Chaired/Participate in (Please list): As chair of the Rational Tuition task force, it became evident that the members in the "committee" were not best suited to handle the issue. Many were from community colleges and were not as interested in the topic. Lori and I plan to have a conference call when she returns to discuss which people will be best suited to focus on rational tuition. For now, those who were present are researching the topic. I have requested from Carrian the materials from the previous time rational tuition was a focus and plan to receive these materials when she is back in the country. The transitional meeting in July proved to be both informational and inspirational. After learning more about SUNYSA and the EBoard, Representatives, and Directors, I was able to form lasting relationships with my fellow SUNYSA members. The Government Relations team met to discuss our future plans regarding our potential legislative agenda and plans to act upon our goals. Both Rey and Jesse are conveniently in Albany, and I can make trips regularly when needed. After the SUNYSA Day and our August EC meeting, we solidified our potential agenda and we discussed better communication strategies going forward. We have a private Facebook group, and plan to text and conference call quite regularly. Communication (External/Internal): Aside from our meetings during both transitional and August EC, the government relations team had one conference call to discuss the legislative agenda and delegate tasks. I was put in charge of rational tuition and a blood donor bill that was since dropped from our focus for the interim period. I am thankful for everyone's help in teaching me about SUNYSA as I learn the process.
