Important Dates: Wednesday, May 16 Awards Night 6:30 Thursday, May 17 Seniors Last Day and Graduation Practice 8:15 AM Sunday, May 20 Graduation 2:00 PM CONGRATULATIONS to the Class of 2018! Friday, May 25 LAST DAY OF SCHOOL, early dismissal at PM! End of School Year Reminders: Please make arrangements with the office to pick up any medications your child has at school or they will be sent home with student on the last day of school. ALL student s lunch accounts need to be in a positive standing on the last day of school. Any money left in their lunch account will be carried over into the 2018-19 school year. Please watch for online registration deadlines in August. It is very important to complete registration by the deadline so we can best plan for a smooth start to the school year. Be sure to have all immunizations and dental/vision requirements completed before the start of the school year. Medical Needs for Next Year Please note requirements for next year and complete all updates before school begins in August. Current 6th grade students- You will need to obtain 2 immunizations PRIOR to starting 7th grade. You will need a TdAP and a Meningococcal Vaccine. Please schedule these and once completed you must turn in a NEW immunization certificate showing these have been completed. You will receive additional information in your report cards at the end of the year. If you have questions feel free to contact Joan Robinson at HLV School: 319-647-2161 ext. 109 or jrobinson@hlv.k12.ia.us Students entering 12 th grade: The Iowa Department of Public Health has made changes to the Iowa Immunization law for the start of the 2018/2019 school year. This change requires that all students entering 12 th grade have the Meningococcal vaccine before school starts this fall. All students entering 12 th grade must have proof of having the Meningococcal vaccine before school starts in August, unless the student has a Certificate of Immunization Exemption. There will be no grace/extension period for the implementation of this requirement. Students that have not received the immunization on the first day of school will not meet the mandatory requirement. Parents are encouraged to call now and set up an appointment for vaccination for your incoming 12 th grader. If you have questions, do not hesitate to contact me at 319-647-2161 ext109.

Students entering 9 th Grade: Dear Parent: Your student will be entering high school next fall and there is now a law affecting all entering freshman state wide. The law passed states, that all incoming freshman must have a dental exam prior to entering high school. Enclosed in your last quarter report card, you will find a dental screening form that the dentist will need to complete and you may return when completed, or at registration at the beginning of the 2018 school year. The form may also be faxed to the school (641-522-7211) from your dentist office. Once again this law is from the state of Iowa and we must comply, and will be audited. If you have questions please call me at the school and I will be happy to assist you in any possible way. Don t forget to check out the Lost & Found Table for any of YOUR missing items! Our first day of the 2018-2019 school year will be Thursday, August 23.
