ICPA Award Categories: Practitioner of the Year Business of the Year Volunteer of the Year Media of the Year Under 25,000 For Profit Under 25,000 Over 25,000 Non-Profit Over 25,000 Unit of the Year Crime Fighter Award Email your nomination to (be sure to include information on why the nominee deserves to be recognized and some basic background information on the nominee) Award Criteria and Nomination Procedures All nominations must be made by an ICPA member, and no member may nominate themselves for an award. The nominee for the Practitioner of the Year Award must be an ICPA member for at least one year prior to the nomination. All other award nominees need not be members of the ICPA. (Nominations for the Practitioner of the Year Award must contain information about the nominee s contributions to crime prevention during his/her career. All other awards shall reflect activities conducted the previous year to the award application submission date.) The nominee cannot have been a previous recipient of an award for the same category within the past 3 years. A nominee may be nominated in more than one category, but separate supporting documentation, letters of endorsement, and a separate application is necessary. Do not make reference to information from another application. Award nominations must be received at the ICPA Business Office no later than April 11, 2018 to be considered. Michael S. Miller Memorial Scholarship Applications are now being accepted! Two $500 scholarships will be awarded each spring to the children or grandchildren of current ICPA members. Applicants must be currently enrolled at or accepted to an accredited university or community college. Applications are available on the ICPA website or by emailing and are accepted from mid January to April 1 st of each year. A selection committee will review the applications and the scholarships will be awarded in May at our Annual Training Conference. The Foundation is able to accept online donations for any of Story County Community Foundation's family of funds. These are handled through our affiliation with the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines. Story County Community Foundation provides access to Endow Iowa Tax Credits. Endow Iowa allows taxpayers to receive a 25% Iowa tax CREDIT in addition to the normal federal charitable income tax deductions for certain charitable gifts. The legislature has a yearly-appropriated limit of $6 million in Endow Iowa tax for each year. The charitable gifts must be made: To a permanent endowment fund (can be a donor-advised fund) which limits distributions to 5% Through a qualified community foundation For the benefit of one or more Iowa charitable causes By individuals, corporations, or financial institutions This exciting program benefits both donors and charities.
