OUR MISSION We are committed to excellence in technical education that is strongly anchored on a system of superior and ethical values and dedication to our long term objective of becoming the premier institution in the field, constantly responsive to the needs of the times and directed to serve the nation and the world ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The department of civil engineering was stared in the academic year 2013-2014 with an aim of promoting high quality education in the field of civil engineering. The academic activities of the department emphasis deep understanding of fundamental principles, development of creative ability to handle the challenges of civil engineering and the analytical ability to solve the problems which are inter disciplinary in nature. The department currently offers bachelor of engineering (B.E) degree program in civil engineering following the Anna university curriculum. The curriculum broadly covers the engineering subjects of related fields such as surveying, building materials and constructions, soil mechanics and foundation engineering, structural analysis and design, hydraulics and water resources engineering, environmental engineering, transportation and coastal engineering. The teaching is assisted with digitalized presentation for better understanding of the students. Industrial visits are arranged for students to gain practical experience. Every year technical symposium FASEW is organized for students to explore the knowledge and interact with other college students. Department magazine We Create The World will be published yearly twice to develop and improve their inter personal skills. The students are motivated by development programmers like CESKEW (Civil Engineering Students Knowledge Exploring Week). The civil engineering association (CEA) is working effectively from 18.03.2015 to share the information and to help the society. The department toppers have been encouraged by best performer awards and they will be nominated as CEA committee members

INDUSTRIAL VISIT CIVIL NEWSLETTER The students of II year civil 65 members have visited Institute of hydraulic and Hydrology (IHH) in poondi on 17.02.2015 along with 3 faculty members. The structure of hydraulic plants has been clearly explained with real type and proto type models for the students. CIVIL ENGINEERING ASSOCIATION The inaugural of Civil Engineering Association(CEA) was conducted on 18.03.2015 which was preside by principal Dr. R.Varadharajan along with our managing trustee Shri N.Sugal Chand Jain, advisor Mr.Nandhakishore, chief guest Er.P.J.Murali, Aadhi Sakthi Associate, all department Hod s, faculty members and civil department students.

The civil engineering association has been started in GTEC in order to explore the knowledge of students and faculty members in the state of the art in the field civil engineering and to help the society and to our college. The CEA logo contest was arranged to the students in order to select the logos for civil engineering association on 21.02.2015. among the various design the best design was selected by our Principal Dr. R.Varadharajan and logo has been released by our managing trustee Shri N.Sugal Chand Jain. The committee members of civil engineering association have been nominated by Mrs.J.Anne Mary, Head In charge department of Civil Engineering. The members have been selected based on their academic performances. The civil engineering association members have been honored by our principal and the pledge was taken by them along with other civil students..

Chief guests Er.P.J.Murali delivered a valuable speech about current trends and job opportunities in civil engineering field and shared his experience in building construction, methodology in India and in other countries. Our managing trustee Shri N.Sugal Chand Jain, advisor Nandhakishore, Principal Dr.R.Varadharajan all department Hod s have greeted the departmental activity. As a part of the inauguration event of Civil Engineering Association the model making competition was organized on the same day in Mahaveer block. The model was displayed in the entrance and their working process has been explained by the students. it was a very fine day to explose their model working skills and communication ability to the college. FASEW 2K15 The first national level technical symposium FASEW 2k15 was conducted on 27.03.2015 organized by Civil Engineering Association and Indian Concrete Institute. The chief guests are professor Dr.M.Arularasu, Principal, TPGIT, Vellore and professor Dr.J.Sreerambabu, head of civil department, TPGIT, Vellore for the inaugural function and Er.P.J.Murali Adhi Sakthi associate for the valedictory function. More than 50 members have participated from other colleges in various events.

BIO PLANTATION CIVIL NEWSLETTER The Rotracty Club of GTEC have organized Bio Medicinal Plantation in our college premises on 06.03.2015 and explained the medicinal value of bio plants. In that our students have brought various bio medicinal plants and planted. ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS RALLY The environmental awareness rally was conducted on 20.03.15 by civil engineering asssociation from our college to kaniyambadi bus stop. we thank NSS coordinator Mr.K.Vasanbhavan AP/Maths and Physical Directors Mr.A.Jayachandran and S.Sridhar for their kind support. NSS CAMP:- The NSS special camp was organized for II year students in Selamantham village vellore from 22.03.2015-29.03.2015 in that civil department students K.Lingeswaran and S.Sudhagar was attend the camp. CELLNET:- The women welfare committee of GTEC in association with AVALVIKATAN organized CELL NET2015 on 31.03.2015 and 1.04.2015 in that civil department girls have participated in many events. BLOOD DONATION CAMP:- The blood donation camp was organized by NSS, YRC and RRC with the help of CMC and Lions Club Vellore on 01.04.2015 in that some of the civil students have donated the blood.
