Jeff Baker, long time Cisne High School baseball coach, has been hired to serve as the head coach and is currently recruiting players. "When we began the search for a head coach I knew we needed a great baseball mind, but we also wanted someone that could represent the type of character we expect in our athletes, stated Tommy Kent, Athletic Director. We got both of those in Jeff. He will be vital in building our foundation for success both on and off the fi eld." FCC s athletic program presently offers women s volleyball and softball. News and updates are posted on Facebook for Bobcats Athletics. Questions regarding baseball or Bobcats athletics should be directed to the Athletic Department at Frontier Community College at (618) 842-3711, ext. 4003. Let s Line the Sidewalk with Pumpkins! To celebrate fall, the Learning Resource Center is calling out to students to stop by and decorate a pumpkin to line the sidewalks during the week of October 19-23. Banned Book Week September 27 - October 3 All across the country public libraries, college libraries, bookstores, and community organizations celebrated the freedom to read by observing Banned Books Week, which began in 1982. The Learning Resource Center displayed many titles that had been challenged. The week is set aside to remind us that while not every book is intended for every reader, each of us has the right to personally decide what to read, listen to, or view. Readers may be suprised to know that these popular books have been banned: The Giving Tree, The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, Harry Potter, Tom Sawyer, Harriet the Spy, and Where s Waldo.
