(CHS web site) Texas Healthy People 2000 Health Status Indicators by Race and Ethnicity Health Status Indicators presented in this report were developed to provide a measurable, understandable and outcome oriented assessment of community health at the federal, state and local level. For most indicators, data are presented over the past 10-14 years in order to determine if Texas health status relative to that indicator is improving, remaining the same or worsening. In addition to showing Texas data over time, the most recent national rates by race and ethnicity are compared to Texas rates for the same year. (CHS web site) Texas Health Data An easy to use web site enabling users to interactively key health and population indicators for any Texas county. This system is on the TDH web site (soupfin.state.tx.us). Developed in 2000, in collaboration with the state of Missouri and the National Center for Health Statistics, users are able to custom generate and download data tables for 1990 through 2001, birth, death or population statistics. Selected Demographic and Public Health Measures: Rankings for Texas Counties. These reports present selected demographic, health status, and outcome measures by rank and by county that are commonly requested and utilized for community planning and evaluation. The sentinel indicators found within this report provide an early warning system for areas that may be at risk for poor health outcomes. The rankings and comparisons provide a historical benchmark to assess the short and long-term efforts expended towards improving or maintaining a community s health. (CHS web site) 3
