THE LOGO AND SEAL 2

THE IVY TECH COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF INDIANA LOGO As the focal point of our graphic identity system, the Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana logo successfully communicates our message in a variety of applications: on buildings, signs, stationery, promotional media, and more. The following guidelines are designed to ensure consistency of appearance, color, and positioning of the logo. Please note that regional marketing departments should approve all logo usage for regional campuses prior to production. SCHOOL NAME Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is the official name. It should be used as such on all official documents. It is permissible to use the name Ivy Tech Community College on all printed material. When utilizing regional names, they should appear as Ivy Tech Community College Region in written format. Further details as to the usage of the name in various formats are detailed in this style guide. It is not permissible to utilize ITCC in any manner. LOGO COLOR OPTIONS Due to the variety of logo usage needs and the many reproduction options, you will need to select the artwork most appropriate for your specific need. Please refer to the Logo Usage Quick Reference Guide (p. 5) for recommended uses for each version. IDENTITY ELEMENTS The term logo is used to indicate the major elements of the identity: LOGO Icon (the stacked I-V-Y ) Logotype (the Ivy Tech Community College name) The logo should be reproduced only from the master artwork provided electronically. The icon and logotype should never be redrawn. ICON LOGOTYPE Whenever practical, the icon and the logotype should be used together. There may be instances, however, when the icon may appear alone primarily when the logotype will be reproduced too small or at too far a distance to be seen clearly (flags are just one example of an appropriate use of the icon by itself). 3

THE IVY TECH COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF INDIANA LOGO continued LOGO VERSIONS To ensure maximum flexibility, there are multiple approved versions of the Ivy Tech logo: HORIZONTAL VERSIONS BLACK 1-COLOR 2-COLOR CMYK (4-COLOR) WHITE (REVERSED) GREY VERTICAL VERSIONS BLACK 1-COLOR 2-COLOR CMYK (4-COLOR) WHITE (REVERSED) 4

LOGO USAGE QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE SIZE GUIDELINES To ensure visibility, please adhere to the following: EXPLANATION OF TERMS FILE TYPE MINIMUM: 2 MINIMUM:.75 EPS files are vector, meaning they can be scaled to any size while remaining perfectly crisp. This is the preferred file format for sending to outside vendors and for professional printed material. When using a horizontal logo, the width must never be less than 2. FILE NAMING CONVENTION IVY_HZ_2C.eps FILE TYPE EPS JPG PNG LOGO COLOR K Vector file format Bitmap file format Bitmap with transparency Black 1C 1-color (PMS 342C) 2C CMYK W RGB ORIENTATION HZ VT When using a vertical logo, the width must never be less than.75. 2-color (PMS 342C + black) 4-color process White (reversed) Digital color (JPGs/PNGs only) Horizontal Vertical JPG and PNG files are bitmap, and should only be used at the supplied dimensions or smaller, as they will appear pixelized if enlarged. These are acceptable for web use and internally printed documents ONLY. LOGO COLOR The 1-color and 2-color EPS logos are built to utilize the Pantone color system (a very precise color-matching system). The 4-color EPS logos are built for regular CMYK printing. So while the 2-color and 4-color logos may look identical in this document, they will appear slightly different when printed professionally. Use the 4-color logo for materials that will be printed in regular 4-color CMYK. Use the 2-color logo for materials that will be printed in 2-color or 5-color (CMYK + Pantone 342C). When in doubt, consult your print shop. The reversed-out white logo should be used sparingly and is not generally preferred. The JPG and PNG logo files are built in RGB color mode, which is suitable for web and internal use ONLY. For more on colors, see the Color Usage Guide (p. 18). LOGO COLOR USAGE IVY TECH GREEN PANTONE: 342 C CMYK: 96, 34, 82, 26 RGB: 0, 102, 72 HEX: #006648 BLACK PANTONE: Black CMYK: 0, 0, 0, 100 RGB: 0, 0, 0 HEX: #000000 IVY TECH GREY PANTONE: Black (50%) CMYK: 0, 0, 0, 50 RGB: 147, 149, 152 HEX: #939598 5

IMPROPER USE OF THE LOGO To avoid improper use of the logo, always adhere to the basic guidelines set forth in this style guide. A few examples of common logo errors are shown on these two pages. An important rule to remember is that the logo should always be treated as a symbol, not as a word in a phrase, sentence or headline. The logo may be used in the masthead of a newsletter, but only if it is treated as a separate design element, not incorporated into the actual name of the newsletter. Other useful guidelines to avoid improper use of the logo include: Do not use different type fonts for the logotype either in upper or lower case. Do not change the proportion or position of the icon and logotype. Do not print the logo in any color other than the colors specified in this style guide. When using the logo as part of an address, do not also write out the Ivy Tech name. INCORRECT CORRECT IVY TECH COMMUNITY COLLEGE 50 W FALL CREEK PKWY N DR 50 W FALL CREEK PKWY N DR 6

IMPROPER USE OF THE LOGO continued Do not crop off the white border around the logo, especially when it is set against a non-white background. Do not position the logo too close to other symbols or logos. Do not position the logo vertically or at an angle. Do not use low-resolution digital versions of the logo (i.e. low-resolution JPG or PNG) files for printed materials. Do not change proportions of the logo when resizing. 7

SPECIAL ARTWORK Artwork has also been created to accommodate specific uses not addressed by the logo. These include, but are not limited to, the following: USES INCLUDE: Flags Engraved items Special signage White art on green background recommended. USES INCLUDE: Embroidery Engraved items Window clings USES INCLUDE: Embroidery Engraved items USES INCLUDE: Special signage 8

THE IVY TECH COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF INDIANA SEAL The Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana seal is reserved for use on formal documents such as diplomas, contracts, and president and donor reports. Green-on-white, whiteon-green, and black-and-white versions have been created to provide flexibility. Informal or promotional use of the seal is prohibited in order to maintain its exclusivity. OTHER COLLEGE-BRANDED LOGOS Logos have also been created for Ivy Tech Community College s statewide branches of operation, as well as for campaigns and ongoing marketing materials. The use of these logos is restricted to documents or other materials that are unique to these organizations or campaigns. As with the regular Ivy Tech logo, these logos have been produced in horizontal and vertical orientations, and in several color modes. Likewise, all of the standards that apply to the regular Ivy Tech logo also apply to these logos. Remember that it is not necessary to use the Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana logo and the logo for one of these organizations on the same piece. Since the Ivy Tech name is included, adding a stand alone Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana logo would be repetitive. No other college-related organization, department or club may utilize a unique logo unless approved by the Ivy Tech Community College Marketing Department. For a full guide to the Ivy Tech Foundation marketing materials, please refer to the Foundation Style Guide, provided by the Office of the President Marketing and Communications team. 9

COLORS AND FONTS 16

COLOR USAGE Below is a guide to the colors used in most Ivy Tech Community College marketing and collateral pieces statewide. A NOTE ON COLORS Pantone and CMYK colors are used for print materials. CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black, and is also referred to as 4-color printing. Pantone is a very precise color-matching system that is usually only used for primary branding colors (such as the Ivy Tech Green). RGB and Hex colors are used for digital materials such as video and web. RGB stands for Red, Green, and Blue; Hex is short for Hexadecimal. Either of these formulas will yield the same color. IVY TECH GREEN The primary shade of green used in the Ivy Tech logo and most marketing pieces. Usually used as a Pantone color. PANTONE: 342 C CMYK: 96, 34, 82, 26 RGB: 0, 102, 72 HEX: #006648 MEDIUM GREEN A lighter shade of green, to be used as an accent color. PANTONE: 361 C CMYK: 75, 5, 100, 0 RGB: 65, 173, 73 HEX: #41AD49 LIME GREEN The brightest shade of green, usually used for text set against the Ivy Tech Green. PANTONE: 368 C CMYK: 50, 0, 100, 0 RGB: 141, 198, 63 HEX: #8DC63F IVY TECH GREY The shade of grey used in the Ivy Tech logo, to be used as an accent color. PANTONE: Black (50%) CMYK: 0, 0, 0, 50 RGB: 147, 149, 152 HEX: #939598 BLACK Standard 100% black. PANTONE: Black CMYK: 0, 0, 0, 100 RGB: 0, 0, 0 HEX: #000000 17

FONT USAGE Below is a guide to the fonts used in most Ivy Tech Community College marketing and collateral pieces statewide. A NOTE ON FONTS Fonts fall into two basic groups: serif and sans-serif. Serifs are the small lines tailing from the edges of letters. A font without serifs is called sans-serif, from the French sans ( without ). It is best to use both serif and sans-serif fonts in a complementary fashion, rather than solely one or the other. Trajan ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz A serif font, Trajan comes in both regular and bold versions, and is the font used in the Ivy Tech logotype. To avoid copy or headlines competing with the logo, Trajan should be used very sparingly, or not at all. Avenir ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz The sans-serif Avenir has six weights, ranging from Light to Black. Avenir is recommended as the basic body copy font for Ivy Tech pieces, and is also a common font for headlines (usually in all caps, with a Heavy or Black weight). In fact, this style guide uses various forms of Avenir for the vast majority of copy and headlines. If Avenir is unavailable, another simple sans-serif font (such as Helvetica or Arial) may be substituted. DIN 1451 Std Engschrift ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz DIN 1451, another sans-serif, was introduced into Ivy Tech materials with the new Recruitment look in 2014. It is used primarily for headlines (usually in all caps) and appears in many Ivy Tech wordmarks. Due to its thick, compressed nature, it should not be used for body copy. Lobster Two ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz The serif font Lobster Two was also introduced with the 2014 Recruitment materials. It often appears alongside DIN 1451 to add typographical variety, generally in lowercase only. Its flowing, scripty nature can cause readability issues, so it should be used very sparingly as an accent font. Fairfield ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz Fairfield is another serif font, typically used for subheads or other copy that needs to contrast with Avenir. It is generally set in the italicized Medium Caption version shown above. It is being used with less frequency since the introduction of Lobster Two. 18

IVY TECH CORPORATE COLLEGE COLOR USAGE Below is a guide to the colors used in most Ivy Tech Corporate College marketing and collateral pieces statewide. IVY TECH GREEN The primary shade of green used in the Ivy Tech Corporate College logo. Usually used as a Pantone color. PANTONE: 342 C CMYK: 96, 34, 82, 26 RGB: 0, 102, 72 HEX: #006648 CORPORATE COLLEGE GREEN A slightly deeper emerald green used as a dominant color in Corporate College pieces. PANTONE: 329 C CMYK: 100, 0, 57, 50 RGB: 0, 102, 88 HEX: #006657 PASTEL GREEN The primary background color in most Corporate College pieces. PANTONE: 580 C CMYK: 20, 0, 38, 0 RGB: 207, 229, 178 HEX: #CEE4B1 CREAM A secondary background color usually used to complement the Pastel Green. PANTONE: P 1-9 C CMYK: 0, 2, 9, 0 RGB: 255, 246, 231 HEX: #FFF6E7 BLACK Standard 100% black. PANTONE: Black CMYK: 0, 0, 0, 100 RGB: 0, 0, 0 HEX: #000000 19

IVY TECH CORPORATE COLLEGE FONT USAGE Below is a guide to the fonts used in most Ivy Tech Corporate College marketing and collateral pieces statewide. Adobe Garamond Pro ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz 1234567890$%&*(.,)+?! {-} A serif font, Adobe Garamond Pro is used for Corporate College body copy. It is also used for headlines (usually in all caps, with a high tracking value and some horizontal stretch as well). Frutiger LT Standard ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz 1234567890$%&*(.,)+?! {-} Frutiger is a sans-serif font with many weights available, but is usually used in a Bold weight such as the above. It is typically used for subheads, sidebars, footers, and other callouts, to complement Garamond. 20

SIGNAGE AND OTHER APPLICATIONS 28

SIGNAGE Signage needs will vary greatly from region to region and from campus to campus. Please follow these guidelines for use with all indoor, outdoor, vehicle, and other signage needs: Sizes and locations of signs will vary according to local ordinances, and changes to existing signage will need to be evaluated by each campus and changed over time. Those signs that are most visible should be changed first. All outdoor signage must use the statewide Ivy Tech Community College logo. If usage is limited to text, the name Ivy Tech Community College must be used. When color is available, the logo should be reproduced only in the color combinations shown on the approved logos. Colors other than green, gray, black, and white should never be used. For signs with a horizontal orientation, use a horizontal version of the logo; for signs with a vertical orientation, use a vertical version. All signage must be approved by the Ivy Tech Community College Marketing Department before production. PROMOTIONAL ITEMS Pens, mugs, mouse pads, coasters there are thousands of promotional item options available to help you promote the Ivy Tech Community College name and logo. Because the style, size, print area, and other elements will vary greatly from item to item, there is no single standard that dictates use other than the guidelines presented elsewhere in this style guide. Please keep all of the following in mind: Whenever possible, use the official Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana logo featured in this style guide. As stated earlier, the logo s cumulative impact is stronger when it is used consistently. If you believe there is a need to use something other than the official logo or your campus/region logo, please call the Ivy Tech Community College Marketing Department at (317) 921-4321. Remember that the statewide logo should never be less than 2 wide when using the horizontal version and.75 wide when using the vertical version. Because of special concerns with small items, the options shown under Special Artwork (p. 8) are recommended to maximize visibility while maintaining consistency. When choosing a color for the item, green, gray, black, and white are strongly preferred. In all cases where the logo is used, it must be reproduced only in the color combinations shown on the approved logos. The logo should never be reproduced in colors other than green, gray, black, and white. Embossing, debossing, foil stamping (gold and silver), and metallic finishes are permissible for promotional items (i.e. notebooks, binders, padfolios). 29

WEARABLES Just like promotional items, shirts, hats, and other wearables are great tools for promoting the Ivy Tech Community College name and logo. Because the style, size, print area, and other elements will vary greatly from item to item, there is no single standard that dictates use. Please follow these guidelines for use with all wearables: Whenever possible, use the official Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana logo featured in this style guide. As stated earlier, the logo s cumulative impact is stronger when it is used consistently. If you believe there is a need to use something other than the official logo or your campus/region logo, please call the Ivy Tech Community College Central Indiana Marketing Department at (317) 921-4321. If usage is limited to text, the name Ivy Tech Community College is preferred. (The words Ivy Tech can be used if Ivy Tech Community College is not a viable option.) Any region, campus, or other designation must always be stacked beneath the Ivy Tech Community College name, and must never be larger than the Ivy Tech Community College name. When choosing a color for the item, green, gray, black, and white are recommended. In all cases where the logo is used, it must be reproduced only in the color combinations shown on the approved logos. The logo should never be reproduced in colors other than green, gray, black, and white. Because of special concerns with embroidered items, the options shown under Special Artwork (p. 8) are recommended to minimize stitch count while maintaining consistency. 30

31

This style guide has been established to create a consistent and uniform identity for all regions and campuses. While this style guide provides you with general guidelines that will help achieve consistency, it is not meant to be an all-inclusive set of rules for every possible situation. If you have any questions about these guidelines, or about uses outside the scope of this style guide, please call the Office of the President Communication and Marketing Department at (317) 921-4321. 32
