I teach Nursing, Nursing Leadership, Practicum in Nursing and Transition to Practice in the pre-licensure nursing program. I also teach Professional Nursing Practice, Nursing Leadership and Nursing Practicum in the online RN-BSN program. In the Nursing Leadership Course, I developed an assignment in collaboration with Practicum requiring students develop an evidence based poster related to the Practicum clinical experience and present the poster at MU PI Research Day. I have participated in the Transcultural Healthcare Course and accompanied students to Jamaica during spring break to participate in a "service learning project" and led debriefing groups during the experience. I have served as Retention Specialist for the School of Nursing for the past three years and have been responsible for assisting "at risk" students to develop plans for success. I have mentored students to develop study skills, test taking skills, and develop individual plans for success leading to improved retention and graduation rates within the School ofnursing. I have previously taught a section ofuniv 1000, fall 2015, and I am currently co-teaching a UNIV 1000. I have co- presented the results of my efforts as Retention Specialist at State and National Conferences. I developed a qualitative component of a research study for the Transcultural Healthcare course to evaluate the effectives of the course in increasing cultural competence. I led the focus group upon return from Jamaica and analyzed the responses for themes. I copresented these findings with other participating faculty at State Conferences. (See attached curriculum vitae). I helped to plan and organize the first Mu Pi Research Day and presented the findings of my Doctoral Research. I also supervised the BSN student Poster Presentations that were a requirement for the Nursing Leadership and Practicum Courses. I have submitted an abstract to present the results of my Doctoral Research entitled "Predictors of Student Outcome in a Baccalaureate Nursing Program: Identification of at Risk Students and Opportunities for Intervention" at the Georgia Association for Nursing Education Conference and the USG Teaching and Learning Conference.
