ST. HELEN CHURCH RIVERSIDE, OHIO JUNE 19, 2016 FATHER S DAY BLESSINGS We give our thanks, Creator God, for the fathers in our lives. Fatherhood does not come with a manual, and reality teaches us that some fathers excel while others fail. We ask for Your blessings for them all and forgiveness where it is needed... So too, we remember all those who have helped fill the void when fathers pass early or are absent grandfathers and uncles, brothers and cousins, teachers, pastors and coaches and the women of our families. For those who are fathers, we ask for wisdom and humility in the face of the task of parenting. Give them the strength to do well by their children and by You. In Your Holy name, O God, we pray. Amen. by Rev. Chuck Currie SCHOOL REFRIGERATOR FAILURE Due to the malfunction of the school refrigerator this past weekend, all items that were in it were thrown away. You may want to check your supplies prior to your next event. We apologize for any inconvenience but need to keep everyone safe! Please call Mel in the rectory if you have questions. THE BLESSINGS OF YOUR GENEROSITY To My Dear Fellow Parishioners, I want to offer a most sincere thanks for your generosity in our Holy Thursday collection, which was taken up for the AiA program at the Dayton Correctional Institution. The donations were used to purchase binders of the program information and exercises for the female prisoners. I attended another session last week, and one of the most beautiful moments came on Friday when one of the men who helped facilitate stood and told all of the women that he had come to the program on Monday with a hard heart. He expected to see women who were cold and who didn t care about anything. Very quickly, though, they blew away every stereotype he had of typical female prisoners, and he began to look at each one of them as he does his daughters and granddaughters. This was an incredibly validating thing for them to hear as many of them do not have good, responsible men in their lives. I giving to these ladies, you most definitely gave back to God with increase! THE COOKIE TABLE Originally a wedding tradition, cookies are prepared and included as a dessert along with the wedding cake. The tradition of baking cookies is a way to show love to the newlywed couple. Guests are invited to take a few cookies home with them when they leave the reception. For us, the Cookie Table is a way to incorporate a bit of our entire parish into the celebration of Fr. Dave. Each of our families have their own unique culture and traditions. We invite you to prepare your favorite cookie recipe to share at Fr. Dave s Open House. Treat bags will be provided for you to take a few cookies home when you leave.
