Acute services are situated at Sale (incrprating an Operating Suite, Emergency Department, Critical Care Unit, Obstetrics, Level 2 Nursery and Paediatric services) with sme acute beds lcated at Maffra and Heyfield. Pharmacy Technician(s) Grade 3 Pharmacist(s) Pharmacy Technician Grade 1-2 CGHS is an integrated health service prviding a wide range f primary health and cmmunity supprt services; including Hme and Cmmunity Care (HACC) thrughut the Shire f Wellingtn with cmmunity centres at Maffra, Sale, Heyfield, Rsedale and Lch Sprt, and residential services at Sale, Maffra and Heyfield. CGHS Pharmacy Department prvides clinical pharmacy services and pharmaceutical care including inpatient, utpatient and discharge dispensing, imprest supply, aseptic cmpunding, drug infrmatin and in-service educatin t clinical staff and medical and nursing students and graduates, inpatient and utpatient medicatin educatin and cnsultant and supply services t reginal hspitals Generic Inclusin Decisin making / delegatin This psitin is at peratinal level and will have input int planning and decisin making prcesses as part f the service team. The psitin reprts t Directr f Pharmacy wh hlds a delegated authrity t the level f Department Head/Manager in accrdance with CGHS Instrument f Delegatin. The wrk cntext: T prvide supprt in a cmprehensive range f technical and clerical functins invlved in the dispensing and supply f medicines in accrdance with Central Gippsland Health Principles and Plices. The purpse f the psitin: T participate as an active member f the Pharmacy Team t prvide safe, ratinal and cst-effective pharmaceutical care fr patients f CGHS. A Pharmacy Technician Grade 2 will perfrm activities including, but nt limited t, drug distributin, stre wrk, dispensary, nn-sterile manufacturing,, re-packaging, dispensary, ward pharmacy supprt wrk; this wrk may be perfrmed withut direct supervisin. This will ccur within the principles f care crdinatin, where patients/clients/residents have access t a highly crdinated health care and cmmunity supprt system. The key respnsibilities f the rle: Specific Respnsibilities Develp ur wrkfrce A Pharmacy Technician Grade 2 may perfrm their rle withut the direct supervisin f a Grade 3 r 4 technician r a Pharmacist, but is under the immediate directin f a Grade 3 r 4 technician r a Pharmacist. Imprest T perfrm Restricted Substances Imprests t wards and departments under the supervisin f the Senir Pharmacist, Dispensary r relevant Ward Pharmacist. T rtate stck and t mnitr expiry dates and stck levels f all imprest stcks in ward and dispensaries. T mnitr drug usage pattern (e.g. slw mvement, high usage, etc.) and reprt t relevant Clinical Pharmacist, where necessary. Page 2 f 9

T return, rtate and recycle imprest stck between wards and pharmacy Ward imprest cupbards (and machines) are maintained in accrdance with agreed range and quantity f in-date stck Dispensing In accrdance t the Pharmacy Bard f Australia Guidelines, all prescriptins are reviewed and endrsed, and the patients prfiles checked by a pharmacist. The pharmacy technician will, under the supervisin f a pharmacist, Assemble prescriptin items and label fr checking. Assemble and label fr checking items rdered n drug charts. Prcess restricted and nn-restricted rders and requisitins. Help prcess repeat prescriptins (utpatients nly). Prcess items fr dispatch / psting. Assist the Pharmacist at the service windw. Mnitr stck level, rder stck, check stck supplied, rtate stck, and check expiry dates. Field initial enquiries in the dispensaries, referring prfessinal matters t pharmacists n duty. Participate in the recycling prcess f dispensed and returned stck, r excess stck stred in dispensary. Ward bed lists t be cllated in the mrning and distributed t Clinical Pharmacists cncerned. Liaise the wards at the end f the day n weekends and Public Hlidays regarding utstanding rders, discharge scripts, and reprt t the Pharmacist i/c if necessary. Check regularly fr uncllected Outpatients and Discharge Scripts and return t stck as instructed by Pharmacist. File cmpleted prescriptins and rders n a regular basis. Maintain adequate stck f advisry labels, cntainers, bags, and ther supplies necessary fr the smth running f the dispensaries.
