Open Days June 2018 Welcome to our Open Day Thanks for coming. We hope that today gives you a flavour of what it s like to study here. It s a busy day ahead, packed with opportunities for you to learn more about our courses, explore the campus, meet with our friendly student community and discover what else the University and the City of Bath has to offer. Open Days June 2018 Useful Information Come and talk to us Have a chat with our friendly ambassadors (in red t-shirts) about what it s like to study at Bath, where they live, and find out about social activities. They are available throughout the day to help you with directions to various buildings, as well as share their experiences of university life. Safety first Please pay attention to all safety and warning signs and take special care when visiting departments, especially laboratories. If you hear the fire alarm, please leave the building as directed by staff and ambassadors and do not reenter until informed by staff that it is safe to do so. Visitors with disabilities If you need extra assistance on the day please contact one of the Open Day Team or Student Ambassadors at the Welcome Point by the main bus stop. Staff from our Disability Advice team are available on the Student Services Stand in the Information Fair if you wish to chat about support for students with disabilities. If you need a break away from Open Day please visit our designated quiet room at Chancellors Building 3.10. Lost property and Meeting point If you do lose your way please head to the Library foyer to regroup with your party or pick up belongings. The Library is located in the centre of the Parade (see campus map pages 6-7, map ref D4). Feeling peckish? We have a delicious range of refreshments available from light snacks to hot meals and grills. Refer to the campus map in the centre of this programme for locations of our eateries. Baby change and feeding facilities Baby change facilities are available in the following places on campus: 4W room 1.6; East Building room 0.4B; The Edge room 0.14 and Norwood House room 2.8. For more information on these locations see the map on pages 6 & 7. If you would like a quieter space to feed your baby please feel free to use our designated quiet room at Chancellors Building 3.10. Islamic Prayer Room The University is pleased to offer visitors a dedicated Islamic prayer room, located on Level 4 of Norwood House. If you would like to use this space please go to Library Reception and ask for access. Chaplaincy Centre The Ecumenical Chaplaincy is both a place and a team. On your travels you ll get to see The Edge, our centre for the arts, our new high quality student accommodation and our award winning Students Union. The SU will form an integral part of your student experience and is home to over 130 clubs and societies as well as the Student Advice and Representation Centre. Find out how you can become a part of our vibrant community. Talks and Tours A wide variety of talks and tours will be taking place throughout the day. Take a look at what our first year undergraduate student bloggers are saying about life at the University at: go.bath.ac.uk/student-blogs We are investing over 200 million into a programme of campus improvement. Construction of The Milner Centre for Evolution, the first centre for evolution research in the UK, is nearing completion with the facility due to open in summer 2018. Our world class sports facilities are also expanding with a new 3.5m state of the art gym opening in September. Polden, a new high-quality accommodation with 293 ensuite bedrooms across 37 flats on the west of campus will also open in autumn 2018. Meanwhile, in the centre of Bath a 4.5 million investment has transformed the former police station into The Virgil Building, a city based learning zone offering a range of services for our students. Self-guided Tour Use this tour to explore our campus at your own pace. If you need any help with directions please ask one of our Student Ambassadors who will be happy to help. (Follow the footprints on the map). 1. Start at the main University bus stop 2. Walk up the steps to the Parade. On your right you ll see our Student Centre, home to the Students Union offices, The Plug Bar and The Tub Nightclub. 3. Walk along the Parade to the Library (Hourly library tours from 10.30). 4. Cross the Parade and go down the steps opposite the Library to see the lake. You can also access the Fountain Canteen from here. E3 D3 D4 D3 5. Go back up the steps and turn left down the Parade and you ll come to 4W on your left, the building that houses our Student Services Centre. C3 6. Continue straight ahead and down the walk B3 way at the far end of which you will reach 10W our home for Psychology. Take a look inside. 7. Back outside, cross over the road. On the left you will see construction for our new accommodation, Polden. B4 8. Turn right to go back up the walk way. After C4 going through the two sets of doors, turn left towards the Campus Shop. Turn left and then immediately right following signs for 3 West North. 9. Continue straight ahead and you will see Derhill (Westwood) which is open for viewing. Continue along the road and turn right to visit the Chancellors Building. Visit the campus development exhibition on level 2. 10. Re-join the road and turn right. Walk past Woodland Court on the left and continue to the Quads which is open for viewing. 11. Re-join the road and follow it round to the left. Continue along the road and visit Solsbury Court on your right. 12. Turn left after viewing Solsbury Court walking past the East Car Park towards The Edge. Take a look inside The Edge. 13. Visit the Information Fair which can be accessed from the footpath between The Edge and the East Building. Look around the fantastic facilities in the Sports Training Village which can be accessed through the large double doors at the back of the Information Fair or join an STV tour (every 30 minutes from STV reception 10.00 15.30). 14. Talks and Tours A wide variety of talks and tours will be taking place around the campus throughout the day. Most need advanced booking so please check your e-tickets for times and venues. Please arrive at your talk 10 minutes before it starts, allowing plenty of time to find the venue. Due to the popularity of our talks and tours, a maximum of 1 additional person can accompany each prospective student into talks and on tours. Not got a ticket? Missed your talk? Please arrive 10 minutes before the start and we will do our best to find you a seat once ticket holders have taken their place. In the event of high demand, priority will be given to student visitors. Drop in tours Just turn up, tickets are not required for the tours below. Sports Training Village (STV) Every 30mins from 10:00 15:30. Meet at the main entrance to the STV. Library Every 60mins from 10:30 14:30. Meet at the library entrance.

Open Days June 2018 A UNESCO World Heritage City Bath is the only destination in the UK to have the whole city designated a World Heritage site by UNESCO. There is so much to discover with its beautiful stone buildings and thermae spa, as well as numerous museums, galleries, restaurants, theatres and bars. We are very lucky that our campus is located just a 30 minute walk from the city centre. To walk into town, exit the campus by 2S (see campus map pages 6-7, C2), continue down Bathwick Hill, turning left at the bottom onto Pulteney Road and right onto North Parade. visitbath Travelling to and from Campus on Open Days The bus stop (E3) on campus is situated next to the East Car Park. From here you can catch buses to the city centre, train station and Lansdown Park & Ride. Tickets: Return 2.50. First Park & Ride Buses The Lansdown Park & Ride Open Day service to the University will run frequently between 08.00 to 17.30 (last departure from Campus). Tickets: Day Return 3.50, Group Return Ticket 10 (max of 3 passengers). Customers with Open Day Park & Ride tickets can also use Service U1 (between the University and the City Centre) and Service 31 (between City Centre and Lansdown Park and Ride).
