Dear Friends We are entering into Lent which is the traditional season of spiritual preparation for Easter Sunday. While it has already started, there is still time to make a difference in our lives. We are called to move closer to God as He draws nearer to us at the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Traditionally we are urged to do so by self-examination and repentance, prayer, fasting, self denial, and by reading and meditating on God s Holy Word. I have found great results by adding prayer and study time to my life. This year I am adding a time of prayer for each member of our church family. I am going through our membership directory and lifting each person up for God s blessing. How God blesses each person is up to Him since all of us are hidden from each other, I wouldn t know what to ask for myself, much less someone else. The second part of my Lenten preparation is study of the Easter story. I would invite you to spend some time with me reading the final conflict in three of the Gospels. We will meet on March 11th at 7 p.m. to read chapters 14-16 in Mark. On March 18th, we will read chapters 22-24 in Luke, and on March 25th we will read chapters 18-21 in John. Each Wednesday night we will begin with prayer, a little explanation of whom the Gospel was written to, and then examine how the author shaped the final conflict. I hope to see you there. We will meet in Room 109, unless we need more space. I hope each of you have a blessed Lent and Easter season. Yours In Christ, Wayne LENTEN BIBLE STUDY READINGS Wednesday, March 11 Mark 14-16 (meet in Room 109, 7 p.m.) Wednesday, March 18 Luke 22-24 (meet in Room 109, 7 p.m.) Wednesday, March 25 John 18-21 (meet in Room 109, 7 p.m.) Please join us each of these nights for prayer, discussion and reflection. Please pray for victims of violence and natural disasters. God can see what is in people s hearts. And he knows what is in the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit speaks to God for his people in the way that God wants. (Romans 8:27)
