1. B.E. & M.E./M.TECH. PROJECT PROPOSAL PROPOSAL FOR QUALITY ENHANCEMENT OF UG AND PG PROGRAMS THROUGH EXTRA EMPHASIS FOR B.E. AND M.E./M.TECH PROJECT BASED RESEARCH, SPONSORED BY BIRLA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY,. 2. APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY The applicant must be student/s of B.E. and M.E./M.Tech final year and the Guide/s are Faculty of Birla Institute of Technology. Preference will be given to project proposals that are industry relevant and have potential to lead to an entrepreneurship venture or a start-up model. Projects that have thematic focus on green energy, clean water, waste-to-energy conversion, versatile simulation, development in design & manufacturing and / or any topic of current interest will be preferred. A project proposal may be submitted either by a single student or by a group of maximum 4 students. 3. 4. FINANCIAL SUPPORT Maximum fund allocated to one project shall be Rs. 50,000/- for B.E. and Rs.100,000/- for M.E./M.TECH Students. The fund shall be utilized for expenditure, which includes raw materials for product fabrication, product testing, etc. The fund shall not be utilized for travelling expenses, honorarium, scholarship or fee payment and no permanent equipment like computers and peripherals can be procured under this grant. 5. MAINTAINING BOOKS OF ACCOUNTS: The students/s and their guide/s should maintain a book of accounts of all the expenditure incurred under the project and must submit a statement duly signed by them and approved by the Chairman of DEC along with each report. The amount should not be utilised for any other purpose other than the project work. 7. DEPARTMENTAL EVALUATION COMMITTEE (DEC) The concerned Department shall constitute a committee as under to evaluate the proposal submitted by the students: Head of the Department Faculty (one) from the Dept. Faculty (one) from the Allied Dept. Expert (two) from Industry Guide of the Student for the Project : Chairman : Member : Member : Members : Member & Guide The Chairman of the above committee shall invite applications from the eligible students and submit the proposal of the selected projects as recommended by the committee to Dean (Academic Programmes). The Chairman (DEC) shall also conduct meetings as and when required for the progress presentation of the project and submit its report to the office of the Dean (Academic Programmes). 8. DURATION OF THE PROJECT The duration of the project is 6 and 12 months for the B.E. and M.E./M.Tech. Students respectively. 9. PROGRESS PRESENTATION/REPORT OF THE PROJECT The presentation for the progress of the work, has to be conducted by the Chairman (DEC) and be submitted to the Dean (Academic Programmes) by the Chairman of the concerned DEC after 8 and 16 weeks for the B.E. and M.E./M.Tech. Students respectively. All student/s and their guide/s should take proper care to submit Progress Report of the Project in time. 10. COMPLETION REPORT OF THE PROJECT The project work has to be completed and final report has to be submitted within 6 and 12 months for the B.E. and M.E./M.Tech. Students respectively and/or within scheduled completion of course of the student. Project Completion Report for UG and PG Students, whose project duration is not more than 6 months and 12 months respectively, should be submitted immediately after their project work, is completed. The completion report shall be submitted by the student/s and guide/s of the project to the Chairman, DEC and the Chairman shall finally submit the recommendations of the committee to the Dean (AP). 11.
