Nov. 8, 2003 through Nov. 8, 2013.it represents WIP Chair Arlene F. Greenfield Women in Philanthropy's ten year anniversary! Ten years old and still growing. So exciting for the vision that WIP's 22 founding members brought to reality. The names of the founding members can be found at our web site: ohio.edu/wip, click on Quick Link then History. Women in Philanthropy's founding purpose when established in 2003 still reflects our focus 10 years later- -"To encourage giving to OHIO but also to promote financial literacy, philanthropic education, grant process training, community service, and to engage women with Ohio University." A purpose to which we remain committed 10 years later. Women in Philanthropy members and friends have had much to celebrate during these ten years. Ten years that would not have been possible without the vision and commitment of WIP's 22 founding members. Women whose belief in the power of women and philanthropy established the solid foundation upon which WIP continues to build and grow. WIP Mission Women in Philanthropy of Ohio University will foster a powerful tradition of giving and support for the University and its departments, activities and facilities. It will aspire to increase the number of women who give to OHIO by providing advocacy about women s philanthropic issues, and by training future generations of Ohio University donors. WIP Committees Executive Committee Chair: Arlene F. Women in Philanthropy has grown thanks to the dedication and commitment of the many volunteers, to include our student volunteers, who have dedicated their time, talent and/or treasure to WIP's mission and goals. You see their photos and their names in WIP's Newsletters, on our Facebook page, and in Compass articles. On behalf of WIP members and friends, I extend sincere appreciation and thanks to OHIO's Foundation Board members, the University leadership, faculty, and staff for your support we would not be celebrating 10 years without your commitment and belief in our mission. Warm WIP regards, Arlene Check out, and Like, WIP's Facebook page Women in Philanthropy of Ohio University. WIP member highlight: Joyce Atwood Joyce Atwood epitomizes using one's time, talent, and treasure to support Women in Philanthropy of Ohio University (WIP) in addition to other areas of Ohio University. Joyce, former Assistant Superintendent of the Chillicothe, OH School System, and currently a Director of Development for Ohio University's Chillicothe Regional Campus, shared her treasure with Ohio University when she joined WIP at the voting level in June 2010. She further supports OHIO through two planned gifts--supporting Chillicothe Regional Campus (OU-C) Giving Circle and the Atwood-Workman Education Scholarship. Click here to continue reading. A charitable bequest is written in a Will or Trust that directs a gift to be made to a qualified exempt charity when you pass away. One benefit of a Charitable Bequest is it enables you to further the good work of Ohio University long after you are gone. In addition, a charitable bequest can help you save estate taxes by providing your estate with a charitable deduction for the value of the gift. With careful planning, your family can also reduce taxes on the assets they receive from your estate. 740-593-4669 Saturday, Oct. 12 Ohio University Alumni Association Bobcat Bash Women in Philanthropy Reserved Tables First Floor Grover Center 11:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. WIP internship scholarship recipients featured Read about WIP's 2013 Internship Scholarship Recipients, Renee Hagerty and Lindsay Bork.
