October 1, 2017 Dear FFA Advisor: Congratulations! First, I wish you and your student the best of success at the upcoming FFA Creed Speaking Leadership Development Event at the 2017 National FFA Convention. Enclosed you will find a list of the flights in the Preliminary rounds of the Creed Speaking LDE. There will be two Preliminary rounds with four Flights in each round. A maximum of six students will compete in any Flight. The top two students from each Flight will progress to the Semi-Final round. There will be two Semi-Final competitions with eight students competing in each Semi-Final. The top two students from each Semi-Final competition will compete in the Final round. All Preliminary and Semi-Final Creed events will be held at the Downtown Marriott Hotel The Orientation for the first Preliminary round will begin at 8:00 a.m., Thursday, October 26, in the Downtown Marriott Indiana D Room. The event will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. in the assigned rooms. The Orientation for the second Preliminary round will begin at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 26, in the Downtown Marriott Indiana D Room. The event will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. in the assigned rooms. The Orientation for the Semi-Final round will begin at 1:15 p.m., Thursday, October 26, in the Downtown Marriott Indiana D Room with the Semi-final round beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the Florida and Illinois/Michigan and Texas rooms. The Final round orientation will begin at 11:15 a.m., Friday, October 27, with an Assembly Meeting in the Indiana Convention Center Room 204. The Finals will begin at 11:30 a.m. We are excited to have 47 participants in this event. Students were randomly assigned to Flights in the Preliminary rounds. Semi-Final Competitions Semi-Final 1: Florida and Illinois Semi-Final 2: Michigan and Texas Finals: 11:15 a.m. Friday, October 27 Orientation meeting Indiana Convention Center Room 204 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 27 Finals begin in the Indiana Convention Center: Sagamore Ballroom (Finals Hall) Judges In order to participate, each state is required to provide a judge for the preliminary round. The Judges Orientation will occur on Wednesday, October 25, at 6:30 p.m. in the Downtown Marriott Santa Fe Room. In addition to the competitive events, there are two other important activities. First, the Photograph Session for all participants and coaches/advisors will be Thursday, October 26, beginning at 5:00 p.m., in the Marriott Hotel Registration Desk 1. Next, the awards dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Marriott Hotel Indiana E, F and G.. At the dinner, each student will be recognized and receive an award. Also, the results of the Semi-Final Competitions will be announced. Again, I congratulate you and your student for the dedicated effort necessary to reach the national competition.
