Faroh, Sr., Principal Where God and Education Lead the Way February 2016 VOL. 7 ISSUE 7 A Note from the Principal Dear Sacred Heart School Families, At the end of January each year is the wonderful celebration of Catholic Schools Week. Here at Sacred Heart, we look forward to celebrating the love of Catholic Schools with spiritual, fun, and educational activities. We have will be celebrating at all Masses over the weekend, enjoying a Pancake Breakfast, a show with Ronald McDonald, and an honoring of Mrs. Rose Smith-this year s Light of Learning Award Winner. Our Chess Club will be going to Miller s Merry Manor to play checkers and a we will be having a Red Fashion Show for the Heart with all proceeds going towards to The American Heart Association. Some of the activities taking place during the week are: Zumba, Yoga, and Movement Classes. Monday through Thursday have special dress that students may participate in rather than wearing their school uniform. Our four preschool classes will conclude the week on Friday with a celebration at 8:30am and the K-6 grade students will have a celebration at 1:30pm. This special week gives everyone at Sacred Heart the opportunity to share with each other, our parish, our families, and our community all of the many things we celebrate about our school and God s love for us! Let s take time to remember and give thanks for the special blessings of our loving Father. It is through Him and with Him that all things are possible. His love is everlasting. You Can Lend a Hand Burger King Coupon Sale Our annual Burger King, You Can Lend a Hand Coupon Sale begins on Friday, February 5 th and ends Monday, February 29 th, unless we run out of booklets sooner. Proceeds will go to the Sacred Heart School Computer Fund.. Details will be forthcoming. Academic Recognition Night For students in Grades 5 & 6 who earned all A s the first semester. Friday, January 30 th @ Warsaw Community High School Students will be recognized and treated to a Warsaw Tiger Basketball game to commend their outstanding efforts and accomplishments. Congratulations to 5 th graders German Flores, Bonnie Hampton, & Addy Sommers and to 6 th graders Marie Frazzetta, Elena Sommers, & Elena Sullivan for accomplishing this outstanding feat! Student Council - SHSSC Our Student Council has been busy learning about meeting procedures, surveying their classes, and making plans for projects. They have been promoting Catholic Schools Week activities, will serve as ambassadors at the Catholic Schools Week Masses, and give tours during our Open House/Pancake Breakfast. 3
Bowls of Kindness Help us accomplish our goal of collecting 200 boxes of cereal for our Lenten Project. Our annual Bowls of Kindness collection of boxes of cereal will begin Wednesday, February 10 th and end on Friday, February 26 th. Look for a flyer with details coming soon. Annual Book Fair Wednesday, February 17 th Tuesday, February 23 rd The Book Fair will open Wednesday in the Media Center and will be a student preview day. The book fair will be open during normal school hours, & after both Sunday Masses on Feb. 21 st. Be sure to check it out! Calling all PICTURES Parents, we are starting to put together our SCHOOL YEARBOOK. Please send in any pictures you have at home to possibly be used in the yearbook. Please send them in on a thumb drive or on a CD to the office labeled with your name and we will return them. Thank you! 5
