Presented by Break O Day Regional Arts, the Youth Art Prize compliments a complete program of events and workshops being presented over the en re June long weekend throughout the Break O Day region. Bay of Fires Youth Art Prize Compe on Guidelines You are invited to enter the 2018 Bay of Fires Youth Art Prize to be held over 9-11 June, 2018 (Queen s Birthday long weekend). This prize offers over $1,000 in total prize value - four (4) age categories, main Environmental Connec on Award and also People s Choice Award. All finalists works (to 60 entries) will be exhibited at Tidal Waters Resort, 1 Quail Street, St Helens, Tasmania. The Bay of Fires Youth Art Prize Environmental Connec on Award is acquisi ve by BODRA for Bay of Fires Arts Associa on. Entries are preferred to be submi ed online, or posted if this is not possible. The theme for the 2018 Bay of Fires Youth Art Prize "Wild Tasmanian Animals" is intended to allow a broad range of interpreta ons. The compe on is open to the following visual fine arts mediums - Pain ng Sculpture Tex les Drawing Printmaking Photography Mixed Media (any combina ons of media) **Entries of an Audio Visual nature will not be accepted** **No Dangerous or Hazardous Materials are to be used** The judges for the 2018 Youth Art Prize will be announced closer to the exhibi on date. Condi ons of Entry 1. By comple ng and lodging an entry in the 2018 Bay of Fires Youth Art Prize compe on, the ar st is deemed to be bound by, and shall comply with, the obliga ons specified in these Condi ons of Entry. 2. The 2018 Bay of Fires Youth Art Prize is sponsored by Hub4Health and administered by BODRA on behalf of the Bay of Fires Arts Associa on Inc. 3. Entry is open to any person aged from 4yrs to 18yrs. 4. The 2018 Bay of Fires Youth Art Prize Environmental Connec on Award is acquisi ve and the work will become the property of BODRA. All other finalist s work is to be available for sale. 5. All entered works must be tled and must reflect the theme of the compe on to be eligible 6. The compe on is open to the following visual fine arts mediums - Pain ng Sculpture Tex les Drawing Printmaking Photography Mixed Media (any combina ons of media) **Entries of an Audio Visual nature will not be accepted. No Dangerous or Hazardous Materials are to be used** 7. The entered work must be completed since 1st Jan 2017, be the absolute property of the ar st and must not have been shown previously or entered in any exhibi on (exhibi on includes digital or on-line display). Entered works must be available for sale. 8. All artworks entered must be the original work and concept of the submi ng ar st. A third party may not enter any works on behalf of anyone else. 9. All entered artwork, including frame, must be no larger than 100cm (height) x 100cm (width) x 60cm (depth) and shall weigh no more than 20kg and must be readily movable by two people. 10. An ar st may enter several works, but each entry must be accompanied by a separate entry form and entry fee with all relevant support material. 11. Entry in the Prize is through pre-selec on from digital image/s of each artwork entered. **See Guidelines for on-line entries and file naming protocols for the following ma ers** Ar sts are required to submit: At least one but no more than four digital image/s of each artwork in JPEG format on a CD, USB memory s ck or by email. Files should be no less than 300 dpi at A4. The digital media must be labelled with the ar st s name, tle of artwork, medium and size of the work and no more than 5gb in file size. A completed entry form including the signed decla- ra on.

For ages 16yr-18yrs; a personal bio that provides basic background and focus of the ar st in no more than 150 words. A short paragraph about the entered art work of 30-100 words. A non-refundable administra on fee of AUD$10.00 per entry (surcharge applies when paying online) Note The digital image, ar st profile and ar st statement may be used in the produc on of a catalogue of finalists work. All digital media received will become the property of and shall be retained by BODRA. The authority to accept, reject, and/or to disqualify an entry shall rest solely with BODRA. The Execu ve Commi ee's decision shall be final and no correspondence on the ma er will be entered into. 11. Entries may be submi ed online (preferred). The Entry Form, Ar st Profile, Ar st Statement, the digital image/s of the art works and the entry fee must be received by 5pm, 6 April, 2018. Postal entries may also be submi ed to BODRA, PO Box 207, St Marys, TAS 7215 and must be received by no later than 5 pm, 6th April, 2018. Late or incomplete entries will not be accepted. All entries are to be submi ed and delivered free of all charges. All entries will be acknowledged and fee payments receipted. 12. An entry shall impose an obliga on upon the ar st to submit the entered work for exhibi on if it is selected. Finalists will be announced by 5pm on 15th May, 2018, ACCEPTANCE AND EXHIBITION 13. Selected works will be exhibited at Tidal Waters Resort from 9-11 June, 2018 14. If more than one work has been submi ed, only one of the ar st s works may be selected for exhibi on. 15. The cost of freight and insurance for works selected for exhibi on will be the responsibility of the ar st or their parent/guardian. Neither BODRA nor The Bay of Fires Arts Associa on Inc. will be responsible for any loss or damage whatsoever, however caused, to any work whilst in the Managing Body or Associa on s custody. Each ar st is and shall be responsible for maintaining any insurance cover. 16. Ar sts whose works are selected for exhibi on must allow their work to be reproduced for promo onal, review and educa onal purposes and/or the future promo on of The Bay of Fires Youth Art Prize or BODRA or the Bay of Fires Arts Associa on Inc. Entry submission is and shall be deemed authoriza on by the ar st or their parent/guardian. 17. All selected 2D works of art should be suitably framed so as to be ready to hang using a standard gallery hanging system with wires and hooks. A stretched canvas is considered framed. Secure flat D-rings should be placed at the back of the work 10cm down from the top of the frame. Any other hooks or wire should be removed. Wet pain ngs will not be accepted. Non compliance with these, and/or any other condi ons of entry, may lead to disqualifica on of the work. 18. All works selected for exhibi on and exhibited shall be for sale. The sale price indicated in the entry form shall apply and shall remain fixed for the dura on of the exhibi on. 19. Works selected for exhibi on will be as chosen by a panel of judges appointed by BODRA. Judges will be suitably qualified to judge works of art and will not be financial members of BODRA. Works to be exhibited will be selected from the digital images and the suppor ng material submi ed with the entry. 20. The panel of judges will choose the prize-winning work from those works selected for exhibi on and placed on display. The judges decision will be final and correspondence will not be entered into. 21. The judges will be selected prior to the call for entries and announced at that me. However BODRA reserves the right to change the judging panel at any me prior to the final judging. 22. The final list of selected ar sts to exhibit will be published on the website: www.bayoffiresartprize.com.au by Monday 16th May, 2018. Ar sts will also be no fied directly by email where it is available. 23. Final judging will take place on June 9, 2018. The winners will be announced at the exhibi on venue on the morning of June 11, 2018 and all entrants are invited to a end. 24. Works selected for exhibi on for The Bay of Fires Youth Art Prize must be forwarded by the ar st or their parent/guardian to be received by 5:00pm, Monday 4th June, 2018. Arrangement for delivery must be emailed to: youthbodrabof@gmail.com to confirm delivery address and drop off mes, or by telephoning Michelle on 0407 046 865. 25. BODRA will not accept, and may disqualify, any work forwarded for exhibi on which is deemed to be not the submi ed entry, has been altered since the entry photograph was taken, or which is deemed by the Commi ee to not to comply with the rules in any way.

26. Selected works from the Bay of Fires Youth Art Prize Exhibi on may tour to another venue a er the ini al exhibi on and must be available for another exhibi on for a period of no more than two months from the conclusion of the Bay of Fires Youth Art Prize Exhibi on. The provisional exhibi on closing date is Monday June 111, 2018. RECEIPT AND DISPATCH: A completed delivery note must accompany each art work detailing the ar st s name, tle of the work and freight details. Should the ar st s contact details have changed since the original entry form was lodged, new contact details should be included on the delivery note. If consigning artwork via post or carrier, prepaid return freight vouchers must be included with the artwork at the me of receipt. If the artwork is sold, the prepaid voucher will be returned to the ar st. No payment whatsoever will be made by BODRA or the Bay of Fires Arts Associa on Inc. for freight or other charges incurred in the delivery or return of entries. COMMISSION AND PAYMENT: BODRA shall be en tled to and will retain 20% commission on all works sold. The net sale proceeds will be paid by cheque to the ar st within thirty-five (35) days of sale, provided se lement has been made in accordance with the condi ons of sale. Payment will be made by cheque in Australian dollars. INSURANCE: BODRA & the Bay of Fires Arts Associa on Inc. will exercise all reasonable care in handling works submi ed but will not be responsible for loss or damage to any work whilst in the custody of BODRA or the Bay of Fires Arts Associa on Inc. or any authorised agents and volunteers. Ar sts are recommended to insure their work against loss or damage. Ar sts are responsible for their own transit insurance. RETURN OF WORKS: A er the close of all exhibi ons, works will be returned in the original packing and it is the responsibility of the ar st to ensure the packing material is sufficient for the return transporta on of the work. Where arrangements have not been made for collec on or return freight by the due date, the Associa on reserves the right to sell or otherwise dispose of the work on the expira on of thirty (30) days from the last exhibi on day. SUBMISSION OF AN ENTRY IS AND SHALL CONSTITUTE THE ARTIST S AND THEIR PARENTS/GUARDIANS ACCEPTANCE OF ALL CONDI- TIONS Sending Entries To send your entries on-line - from your personal or parents/guardian email account, simply email your files as a youthbodrabof@gmail.com achments to: They will be recognised as an entry because of the a ached files. Should the picture files be too large, they can be sent individually. Most email servers will not allow the total message to be larger than 20 MB so by keeping your images in the 1-8 MB range, you should be able to get through. If that is not successful, then we recommend using a cloud server. This is an on-line facility that allows you to upload large files and then we can down-load them. There are a number available and an on-line search should locate them many offer free trials. But try the email first, it will save me and it is easier to use in the first instance. If you s ll have trouble, we can set up a Dropbox link for you. Once we have received your entry, you will receive an acknowledgement of having received your email.
