A panel of experts will share their experience in financing, selecting and using electronic health records, as well as the quality benefits for residents and the budget benefits for facilities. Finance Track Part 1 Participants will have an opportunity to listen to lending experts share the latest information about

current financing options for LTC including, HUD loans, Bridge loans, refinancing, debt and equity capital, sale/leasebacks, and conventional bank financing. IOs will be able to speak with lenders, ask questions and schedule individual meetings if appropriate. Specific lenders are listed under the individual concurrent session times. Implementing Health Care Reform Track Part 1 National Health Care Reform: Effects on Long Term Care (LTC) Operations and Transactions Speaker: Jim Miles, Miles & Peters, P.C, Denver, CO The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) significantly impacts the business operations of LTC providers. These important PPACA provisions include potential changes to Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement including payment bundling and valuebased purchasing, mandated ownership and management disclosures, and mandatory compliance programs. Other provisions in PPACA, which are less known but still important, greatly impact transactions for LTC providers, including Medicare enrollment of new facilities and acquisitions/mergers. Speaker: Mark Reagan, Hooper Lundy & Bookman, Inc., San Francisco, CA As the Medicare and Medicaid Integrity Programs continue to ramp up and the fraud and abuse provisions of Health Care Reform get phased in, LTC providers are increasingly coming under the scrutiny of government audits. This session will familiarize operators with the alphabet soup of contractors associated with these programs (the MACs, RACs, ZPICs, MICs and others) and how they tie into the fraud detection activities of CMS, OIG, DOJ and Medicaid fraud units. The session will provide an update on the issues upon which contractors currently focus. Implementing Health Care Reform Track Part 3 Employer Health Insurance Plans Speaker: Nancy Taylor, Greenberg Traurig, LLP, Washington, DC The recent passage of the National Health Care Reform Legislation has created a new regulatory environment for employers who offer health insurance to their employees. With varying effective dates, and with different requirements depending on the size of the employer and whether a health plan has grandfather status, employers will have to meet certain obligations in offering their full time workers with benefits, including new coverage and benefits requirements, and new procedures for appeals and external review. Learn how to navigate this new regulatory framework and what coverage options will be available to employers including the new insurance marketplace rules.
