FIRST Robotics Team 4561 The TerrorBytes Research Triangle High School Thank you for your interest in Research Triangle High School s Robotics Team, FIRST Team 4561, the TerrorBytes. The TerrorBytes are dedicated to enriching high school students' lives through education in science and technology. The FIRST (For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) program s mission is to inspire young people to become science and technology leaders by directly involving students in designing, building, and driving a robot in multinational competitions. This endeavor helps to expose students to new technologies, industry professionals, and scholarship opportunities that they cannot find elsewhere. The TerrorBytes mission doesn't end with FIRST however. We strive to bring STEM education all year round to our students and students in the community through seminars, weekend Hack-a-Thons, and participating in community events. In a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), teams learn the nature of the game in early January, then have exactly six weeks to construct a robot to compete in a threeday long competition open to the public. While a basic part kit is provided at the beginning of the build season, the rest of the robot design is left to the students. For additional tools and parts to create and test the design the team relies on donations from generous sponsors. Throughout the year our volunteer mentors provide training in mechanics, electronics, and programming as well as public speaking, writing, and graphic design. Student leadership was difficult to foster from a team of only freshmen, but key students have eagerly stepped up to the task and are able to plan virtually all of our meetings, fundraising, and activities with only gentle guidance. In order to be successful in our endeavors of education and competition, The TerrorBytes rely on community support. By contributing either monetarily or through in-kind donations, your company will be directly supporting the growth of community students into science and technology leaders. These students may very well be your future workforce! We would also like to offer to visit your facility so that our students could meet with you to give a better understanding of what the team means to them and the things they have planned for the future. Thank you for your time and interest in RTHS Robotics, The TerrorBytes, and we hope to hear from you soon. -- Team 4561, the TerrorBytes Email: Sponsorship@terrorbytes.org Phone: (919) 862-6742
