Are you interested in becoming a future leader in agriculture and your community? The Missouri Agribusiness Academy is for you! MAbA is a youth leadership program designed for high school sophomores to explore career opportunities in agribusiness, government and production agriculture. Agriculture has a tremendous impact on our nation s economy, and Missouri is at the heart of this industry. It is important that young people carry on the tradition and heritage of those who have made this state the agricultural leader it is today. The Academy will help provide you with a foundation in agricultural leadership and prepare you to meet the challenges and reap the rewards of the world s greatest industry. In 2015, thirty students will be selected to participate in MAbA through a competitive written application and oral interview process. Academy members will tour agribusinesses and meet agricultural leaders in the St. Louis area June 1-5, 2015. Applications for students interested in becoming part of the 2014 class are available online at mda.mo.gov and are due no later than February 1, 2015. For applications and guidelines, as well as more information on the Department of Agriculture and its programs, visit the Department online at mda.mo.gov/. Interest-Free Funding Available for 4-H and FFA projects FCS Financial launched an agricultural youth funding program earlier this year to assist Missouri 4-H and FFA members with their agricultural projects. The agreement provides interest-free funding for qualifying projects, is available to all 4-H and FFA members in the association s lending service area and is repayable within one year. FCS Financial requires a detailed projected cash flow as part of the application process. The goal is to emphasize the importance of accurate records, budgeting and honoring obligations to repay in order to provide the future farmer or rancher with the tools, skills and contacts to move forward into a rewarding and successful agricultural career Funds are available for one project per year, per student. For more details or to apply, visit www.myfcsfinancial.com, your local FCS Financial office. 2 CLOVER KID CORNER Each month we try to provide an activity, information or other materials for leaders to share with Clover Kids. Making Fabric Dirty What you need: Different types of fabric cut into 12 inch squares Items that may stain: grass, dirt, markers, paint, ketchup, oil, etc. What you do: Let the children choose three different fabric swatches to dirty. Let them put different stains on the fabric. Make sure to mark on the fabric what the stain is. This will be important if you have washable and permanent markers.
