The training must be provided to each member of a legislative body, each elected official, and any employees who may be designated by an agency to receive the training. The training must be completed by any individual holding office as of January 6, 2006, and every two years thereafter. This interactive training covers all topics required to be covered by AB 1234 including conflicts of interest, gift limitations, honoraria prohibitions, and conduct upon leaving office. 4

Even in these difficult economic times, it is important to plan for the how to address current and future capital needs in order to leverage the limited resources available and preserve capital investments for the long-run. This workshop will review steps for the creation of a capital improvement/facilities master plan to address facilities, vehicle and equipment needs, including; upkeep of existing facilities, replacement of apparatus and equipment, and purchase and/or construction of new facilities, apparatus and equipment. Specifically, this workshop will provide guidance for what fire districts should consider when embarking on such a process. Ideas will be shared regarding how to approach the creation of a master plan, evaluate the timing of capital improvements, fund capital needs, and discuss capital improvement plans with the governing board and community.
