Chesapeake Bay Grants Delaware is awarded three grants to focus on the restoration and protection of the Chesapeake Bay and its surrounding watershed. Chesapeake Bay Regulatory and Accountability Grant Program (CBRAP) Purpose: To aid CB jurisdictions in implementing and expanding regulatory, accountability, assessment, compliance and enforcement capabilities in support of reducing N, P and sediment loads delivered to the Bay. Accomplished by: Implementing regulatory, tracking, reporting, verification, assessment, and/or monitoring commitment to the WIPs and/or two year milestones; Reissue and enforce permits; Develop and implement nutrient credit trading and offset programs; Provide technical and compliance assistance to landowners; Provide compliance assistance to local governments and regulated entities; Develop/revise regulations, design and implement WIPs and two-year milestones. 1:1 match requirement

Implementation Grants (CBIG 1 and 2) For Delaware to meet its pollution limits for nitrogen, phosphorus, and sediment to help restore the water quality in the Chesapeake Bay and its tidal tributaries. Accomplished by implementing BMPs, wastewater treatment technology upgrades, and other activities necessary to reduce nutrients and sediment loads to the cap load levels and maintaining them into the future. 1:1 match requirement

CBIG Local Implementation Funding DNREC awarded $360,000/year for Local Implementation Efforts in support of the Bay watershed jurisdictions Watershed Implementation Plan. Local stormwater management improvements. Training sponsored by local governments for local governments (e.g., peer to peer) focused on addressing barriers to and innovative ideas for implementation of nutrient and sediment reduction programs. Technical assistance to develop and implement environmental financing revenue streams, including stimulation and leveraging of private capital, to pay for nutrient and sediment reduction projects. Compliance monitoring and assistance, and inspections and enforcement of MS4s, construction stormwater, animal feeding operations, and wastewater treatment plants. Development of new, or improvement of, existing authorities, rules, codes, zoning, and/or regulations to reduce nutrient and sediment loads delivered to the Bay through enforceable or otherwise binding commitments.
