Statements Mission St. Gregory's University promotes the education of the whole person in the context of a Christian community in which students are encouraged to develop a love of learning and to live lives of balance, generosity and integrity. Background In October of 1875, two French Benedictine monks made their way into what was then known as Indian Territory. They were driven by a desire to serve humanity by dedicating themselves to the education of and ministry to the Native American peoples and other settlers in the region. Building upon the Catholic tradition of excellence in education and the ideals of hospitality, respect, community, learning and service articulated by St. Benedict of Nursia in his Rule for Monasteries some fifteen centuries earlier, Father Isidore Robot, O.S.B., and Brother Dominic Lambert, O.S.B., planted the seeds for Oklahoma's oldest institution of higher learning. Since that time, the efforts of our founders have developed into St. Gregory's University an innovative community of higher learning committed to meeting the needs of our students and our rapidly changing world. Impact St. Gregory's University announced in May 2016 the appointment of Dr. Michael A. Scaperlanda as the University's 16th president. Scaperlanda has served the University of Oklahoma in various academic and administrative capacities since leaving the practice of law in 1989. He also has worked closely with St. Gregory's over the last seven years as a member of the Board of Directors, Vice Chair of the Board and most recently assisting President Emeritus D. Gregory Main in creating St. Gregory's bold strategic plan Vision For Our Next Century. Exceeding expectations, St. Gregory's University experienced a thirty-one percent (31%) growth in new students for the Fall Semester of 2016 as compared to the Fall Semester of 2015.St. Gregory's will continue to grow strategically as prospective students become aware of the benefits of a St. Gregory's education - employability upon graduation; transferable skills providing vertical and horizontal job mobility; and a framework for leading a joy-filled life in service to others.st. Gregory's University announced that its Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program has been granted full accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The accreditation is retroactive to October 15, 2015.
