General Rules All acts must be safe and appropriate (e.g. no innuendo, profanity etc.). All aspects must comply with the Student Handbook, including, but not limited to, clothing guidelines, treatment of IMSA property and others in IMSA community, and illegal substances. No involvement in or promotion of dangerous feats, stunts (i.e. jumping off of a hall balcony), pranks, vandalism, violence, or generally inappropriate activity of any kind. No slander/mockery of any kind, including but not limited to cultures, race, gender, or sexuality. No crude symbolism, disrespectful gestures, obscene remarks, or profanity at all, including in music. No drug/alcohol references. All contest entries must be purely the work of students of your own hall. No outside companies, outside professionals, or even residential counselors may provide their services. Clash of the Halls is a comparison of the abilities of each hall, and each contest should reflect the ability of a hall to create and perform on their own. Student Council and Student Life reserve the right to alter the terms and regulations of Clash of the Halls at any time. Student Council and Student Life will assess all cases of reported violations related to procedures outlined in this and other official Clash of the Halls documents before making a final determination. Preparation Times Clash of the Halls is a limited preparation competition. Students may only work on and discuss the contests at the following times: Sunday: 6:15 AM to 10:30 PM Monday: 9:00 PM to 10:30 PM Tuesday: 9:00 PM to 10:30 PM Wednesday: 9:00 PM to 10:30 PM Thursday: 9:00 PM to 10:30 PM Friday: 4:15 PM to In-Room Curfew Saturday: 6:15 AM to In-Room Curfew CotH preparations may take place during these times. If an individual student and/or groups of students are working on CotH contests outside of these times, their hall will be punished, at minimum by loss of points and at maximum by disqualification, from the appropriate event. In-Room extensions may not be given for CotH preparation. CDs will be contacted about which locations can be used for rehearsals. The following cases are exempt from this regulation and may occur outside of the stated times so long as they are not in conflict with other CotH regulations or campus policies: Sending emails/forms or posting to social media concerning CotH. Holding conversations about CotH not related to contest preparations. Any requests for exceptions should be sent to the Student Council CAB Director, President, and Mr. McIntosh for approval or rejection. If a request is rejected but the case still takes place, it will result in automatic disqualification for the appropriate event. Any doubts about whether a case is exempt from this regulation should be discussed with the Director and President in advance, as once the case occurs, it must be handled with respect to this regulation. Student Council and Student Life reserve the right to review all violations of this regulation and determine final punishments. 4
Eligibility Students must be responsible with their participation in Clash events in order to remain eligible. Attendance Stipulation: Students who accumulate three (3) or more attendance points overall in a day may neither compete in Clash of the Halls contests on that day nor attend events on that day. Grade Stipulation: Students who are failing any classes (D or lower) may not compete in Clash of the Halls contests until their grade rises to at least a C, but they may attend events provided that they meet the attendance stipulation above. Students who violate the above stipulations will not be allowed to compete in Clash events at all. 5

Dress Up Days Greek Life Monday Dress up with your hall like you are from a fraternity or sorority. Twin Tuesday Come to school wearing a matching outfit from head to toe with one of your hallmates! Well Dressed Wednesday Dress to impress by wearing your fanciest clothes! Go to school or off-campus with polos and dress pants or dresses and suits. Clash Shirt Thursday Show off your hall pride by wearing your lovely hall shirt to school! *All clothing must adhere to IMSA s dress code as outlined by IMSA s Student Handbook. **Dress Up Days will not count for participation. 8
Monday Events Opening Ceremony To kick off the week, we ll be meeting in the Old Cafe for the opening ceremony complete with opening remarks and our own version of the lighting of the torch. Cooking Competition Is Sodexo getting too repetitive for you? If so, come to the cooking competition. Each hall will select a head chef and sous chef to put together their most creative and tasty recipes only using ingredients provided by Student Council and Sodexo. But do not try getting your recipes ready yet, because every hall will be given a Mystery Box where they will find an ingredient they must use in their dishes. Rules and Guidelines: Chef pairs will have access to a pantry full of ingredients from Sodexo. They can access this pantry at anytime during the Competition. Chef pairs will have 15 minutes to prepare their dish. The following rubric will be used to judge each dish. Presentation How aesthetic was the meal that was provided by the hall? Creativity How creative was the meal that was provided by the hall? Incorporation of the Secret Ingredient How well did the hall s dish showcase the secret ingredient? Taste How tasty was the meal that was provided by the hall? 6 7 8 9 10 9
Monday Events (cont.) Hall Video (followed by an Ice Cream Social in the Old Cafe) This event is a chance for halls to showcase their creativity and filmmaking skills, all in a 2 minute video. The video can be humorous, serious, or anywhere in between, and the video can take any form (short film, movie trailer, music video, etc.). Completed videos must be submitted for review by 10:30 PM on Thursday, March 3rd to a designated Google Drive Folder. If any videos are not approved by Student Life, the hall will be notified of the necessary changes by 11:59 PM on Friday, March 4th. The updated version must have the required edits and no other changes and will be due by 10:30 PM on Sunday, March 6th. Rules and Guidelines: The length of the video cannot exceed 2 minutes. Halls that submit a final video exceeding 2 minutes will be disqualified. Equipment can be reserved from ITMC. Or, students can use their own equipment. The entirety of the video must be filmed and edited by students of your own hall. Clash of the Halls is a comparison of the abilities of each hall, and each video should reflect the ability of a hall to write, produce, film, and edit a video. Tuesday Events Think Tank Think Tank allows the faculty and staff to come together with the student body in a thought-provoking activity! Each hall will be assigned a specific area in the main building to convene and solve a documented set of problems. Faculty and staff who provided some of the problems will be in the main building to help. Be the first hall to finish correctly and win! Rules and Guidelines: Each hall will be given the same set of problems to solve. The problems will range from the seven academic disciplines of English, Fine Arts, Wellness, Language, History, Science, and Math. Each discipline will be divided into three levels, each meant to be completed by a respective, designated class. As this will take place in the main building, we ask each of the halls to remain quiet out of respect for the rest of the building; however, the fact that other halls may be nearby should be enough of a reason to remain quiet. Talent Show The talent show is an opportunity for halls to show off the talents their residents have. Students will have a chance to combine all of their hall s talents and show it off to the other halls, while also enjoying performances from the rest of the campus. The weekend before the show (March 5th and 6th), all acts will be screened. Rules and Guidelines: Each performance will be allotted a 5 minute time period without any grace period. Warnings will be given at 30, 15, and 5 seconds. 11

Wednesday Event Game Show Each hall will send contestants up to participate in the Game Show. There will be 5 games within the Game Show, each 5 minutes long. The objective for each hall will be to complete a designated activity as many times as possible within the five minutes. 13
Thursday Events Face Painting Get ready for pep rally and show your pride by getting your face painted during midday! Hall Mural Each hall will be provided with a canvas to create a mural representing their hall. Halls may not extend their mural beyond the set length or width of the provided canvas, and artistic mediums may only extend up to one inch of depth from the canvas. One RC from each hall must collect their hall s mural by 10:30 PM on Wednesday night and bring it to Student Life Thursday morning before midday. Failure to follow the stated guidelines will result in disqualification. Rubric: Originality (1-5) Sense of Community (1-5) Artistic Finesse (1-10) 6 7 8 9 10 T-shirt and Profile Picture Design Each hall must create official designs for their t-shirt and profile picture. Design submissions should be at least 800 pixels by 800 pixels, and any outside designs or programs used must be noted separately. Both the t-shirt design and profile picture design must be emailed to theman@imsa.edu and pnebres1@imsa.edu by 4:15 PM on Tuesday, March 8th. If the design is not approved, we will notify the hall by 12:30 PM on Wednesday, March 9th, and the hall will be given until 10:30pm to re-submit. 14

Rubric: Creativity (1-10) 6 7 8 9 10 Aesthetic Appeal (1-10) 6 7 8 9 10 Pep Rally Obstacle Course Each hall will send a select number of people to represent their hall in the Obstacle Course. The selected students will choose the task they would like to perform, and the obstacle course will begin. The hall that finishes the fastest will be the winner. Senior Game Each hall will choose a select number of seniors to represent them during the senior game to be explained at Pep Rally. Eating Contest Each hall will choose a select number of students to represent them during this challenge. The hall that finishes the food the fastest will be named the winner. Everything must be swallowed and the plate completely cleared. Water will be provided for each contestant. Drill Team Each hall will submit a list of 14 songs they would like to include in their drill team dance by 10:30 PM on February 7. Each hall s list will be combined into one master list, and of those 98 songs, 49 will be chosen. Any of the final 49 songs maybe used in the hall s dance, and songs may be edited. Rules: Drill mixes cannot exceed 5 minutes. The dance will be approved on the Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday during Clash week. The mix can be approved at any time before the Thursday of Clash week. 15

Friday Event Friday Fest With the competition over, celebrate everyone s accomplishments with some great food at Friday Fest. 17
Weeklong Events Geocaching Geocaching combines the fun of scavenger hunts with solving riddles. Each morning (Monday to Wednesday), students will be given an unidentifiable, zoomed-in picture which they will have to identify as an object or location on campus. Halls must find this object or location and take a zoomed-out picture of the object or location with a member of the hall in the picture pointing to the object or location. They must then submit this picture to Camden Ko (cko1@imsa.edu) by 10:30 PM that night. Only the first submission from each hall will be counted. Halls that correctly identify the object or location will be given a quarter piece of the final riddle. Halls that do not identify the object or location will not receive a piece of the final riddle for that day. On Thursday, halls must use the pieces of their final riddle and submit a picture of the answer to this riddle by 5:30 PM. Each hall gets 10 points for identifying the object or location on a given day and 30 points for solving the final riddle. The hall that has the most points in geocaching will place first for this event. In the event of a tie, earlier submissions of the final riddle will be favored. Pick Ems Inspired by the League of Legends Worlds Pick Em, we will release a website so you can try your hand at predicting who will win each event and the trophy! The more guesses you get right, the higher your individual score will be. Note: This will not count for any points towards your hall in Clash but may result in a prize from CAB! 18
