Last year, with your support, we opened the Talley Athletic Center, renovated the Track & Field locker rooms, dedicated a new Field Hockey facility and made significant enhancements to the Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth and to the Davis Center. And now, as you know, the Finneran Pavilion is undergoing a $60 million renovation that will create an unparalleled home court-advantage for our Men s and Women s Basketball programs. As we continue to pursue championships and excellence in all of our 24 athletic programs, your support has never been more critical. To help ensure Villanova Athletics long-term success, we will implement a support-based seating program, Nova Points, which will go into effect on January 1, 2018. The Nova Points program will help drive support for our student-athletes and is an equitable way to reward donors and season ticket holders by taking into account their prior and future support of Villanova University and Villanova Athletics. A great deal of time and research went into creating Nova Points, a program based on best practices from across Division I athletic departments, yet customized for Villanova. The program is designed to provide a first-class experience for our student-athletes while recognizing the incredible support of our fans. It provides examples of how points are calculated and answers many questions that you may have about the new program. WHY YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED Current season ticket revenue from Men s Basketball cannot fully support Villanova s 24 athletic programs. Private support from loyal and dedicated Villanova alumni and fans is critical. While the generosity to date has been tremendous, the bar has been raised in Division I collegiate athletics and additional resources are needed to provide scholarships for our outstanding student-athletes, to enhance our facilities and to provide academic support, equipment and travel amenities needed to compete for conference and national championships. MAINTAINING THE HIGH LEVEL OF ACADEMIC SUCCESS More than 600 student-athletes represent Villanova University in athletic competition, but more importantly, they receive a Villanova education and represent the Wildcats long after they have finished competing. As the cost of educating students continues to increase, we must continue to give our studentathletes the resources they need to be successful. 2016-2017 COMPLETE STUDENT-ATHLETES Villanova Athletics is committed to ensuring the success of student-athletes during and after their time on campus. Throughout the year, Villanova Athletics provides unique opportunities to student-athletes for personal growth, leadership development and participation in community service. All student-athletes are encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities and to be active members of the Villanova student-athlete community. ACADEMIC HIGHLIGHTS RECENT HIGHLIGHTS 28 CONSECUTIVE SEMESTERS In two of the last three years, the BIG EAST Conference recognized Villanova with the BIG EAST President s Award, which honors excellence in athletics, academics and citizenship (14 years) with an average student-athlete GPA above a 3.0 VILLANOVA S NCAA GRADUATION SUCCESS RATE On an annual basis, Villanova student-athletes devote more than 3,000+ hours of community service is 94% ranked among the highest in the nation RANKED #19 IN THE COUNTRY by Forbes as a school that dominates academically and athletically A RECORD 15 PROGRAMS earned public recognition for their NCAA Academic Progress Rates (APR) ranking in the top 10 percent of their sport nationwide. NOVA POINTS OVERVIEW HOW NOVA POINTS ARE CALCULATED Nova Points reward the loyalty and generosity of alumni, fans and friends of Villanova University. The Nova Points program recognizes lifetime giving to Villanova University while emphasizing giving to Villanova Athletics. Points will be used to enhance the equity and transparency of popular programs, including seating in the Finneran Pavilion, in the NCAA and BIG EAST Tournaments and at neutral site venues. ONE-TIME ALLOCATIONS: Starting with the 1990-91 season through the 2017-18 season, Men s Basketball season ticket holders will receive 30 points per year of season ticket purchases with a donation. TIMELINE AND IMPORTANT DATES HOW NOVA P OI N T S I M PA C T S E AT I N G F O R FINNERAN PAVILION The first time Nova Points will be used is to prioritize Finneran Pavilion seat selections. You will have the opportunity to speak one-onone with a member of the Villanova Athletic Fund or Villanova Athletics ticket staff to review seating options for the Finneran Pavilion. The new Villanova Athletic Ticket Office and Preview Center is located in the east end of Villanova Stadium. The Nova Points program will go into effect on January 1, 2018. OCTOBER 2017 Nova Points will be used for the first time to prioritize Finneran Pavilion seating. Nova Points will also be used to allocate seats for the 2018 Big East Men s Basketball Championship and the 2018 NCAA Men s Basketball Championship. Nova Points program is announced. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS WHAT ABOUT PRIOR POLICIES AND AGREEMENTS? WHY DID VILLANOVA IMPLEMENT A SUPPORT-BASED POINTS PROGRAM? The Nova Points program an objective mechanism that allows Villanova University to track donor giving plays a critical role in the long-term success of Villanova Athletics. By encouraging support to Villanova Athletics and the University, Nova Points will create new opportunities for our student-athletes and teams. From scholarships to programmatic support, your donations will help propel Villanova to new levels of recognition and competition. The Nova Points program is based on best practices from across Division I athletic departments, yet customized for Villanova. Nova Points provide a transparent and equitable way to allocate tickets and access to select Villanova Athletics events. WHERE CAN I FIND MY NOVA POINTS TOTAL? Your initial Nova Points statement is available online. To check your total, please visit the Nova Points page under Support Nova on villanova.com and enter your login and password to access your account. If you do not have a Villanova ticket account, you can create one by visiting the Support Nova page on villanova.com. Villanova Athletics will update points weekly. CAN I TRANSFER MY NOVA POINTS? Nova Points may not be transferred from one person to another or from one account to another account. Additionally, the transfer of points by virtue of a will, trust or other estate-planning document is prohibited. In the event of the death of an account holder, the surviving spouse/partner retains the Nova Points, provided the spouse/partner was on the account prior to the time of death. Points cannot be transferred to other family members, such as parents, children, siblings, etc. Please contact the Villanova Athletics Ticket Office to add/remove a name from an account or to split a group account. Any changes to your account must be made in writing and formally acknowledged by Villanova Athletics. HOW WILL POINTS BE CALCULATED IN THE ABSENCE OF HISTORICAL RECORDS BY THE UNIVERSITY? Nova Points will be calculated based on the documented records that Villanova University Advancement and Villanova Athletics have available. The time frames for each one-time allocation coincides with the available season ticket holder records for each program. DO MY NOVA POINTS EXPIRE? Nova Points do not expire. You can continue to add to your Nova Points total, via donations to the University and the Villanova Athletic Fund, planned giving, ticket purchases, annual season ticket holder donations, etc. The Nova Points program supersedes all previously communicated ticket allocation policies including, but not limited to, any grandfather clauses, verbal agreements and previous Villanova ticket policies. HOW CAN I IMPROVE MY SEAT LOCATION? The best way to improve your seat location at ticketed Villanova Athletics events, and at the Finneran Pavilion, is to improve your ranking in the Nova Points program through donations and season ticket purchases. WHEN DOES THE FINNERAN PAVILION SEATING PROCESS BEGIN? The seating process has begun with some of our major gift donors to the Finneran Pavilion. We anticipate seating season ticket holders beginning in January 2018. Nova Points will be used to prioritize Finneran Pavilion seating for Men s Basketball season ticket holders. CAN I SECURE THE SAME SEAT(S) IN THE FINNERAN PAVILION AS I HAVE HAD PREVIOUSLY? Due to the renovation, the layout of seats throughout the arena will change and thus no specific seats can be guaranteed. As part of the Finneran Pavilion seating process, a representative of Villanova Athletics will engage with each season ticket holder, in the appropriate sequence based on his/her Nova Points total, to discuss his/her preferences and available seating options. IS THERE A LIMIT TO HOW MANY TICKETS I CAN PURCHASE IN THE FINNERAN PAVILION? Yes, there is a limit of six (6) season tickets per account. NOTE: Villanova reserves the right to change the terms of the Nova Points Program as determined in its discretion to achieve the goals of Villanova Athletics and the University. I SHARED A SEASON TICKET ACCOUNT WITH ANOTHER SEASON TICKET HOLDER AND PAID HIM/HER THE ANNUAL PER-SEAT DONATION AND COST OF THE TICKET EACH YEAR. I MADE MY GIFT THROUGH THEIR ACCOUNT. WILL I RECEIVE NOVA POINTS? The account holder who purchased the season tickets from the Villanova Athletics Ticket Office receives all of the Nova Points for the years of tickets purchased and all of the Nova Points for the respective VAF per-seat gifts. All donors and season ticket holders are encouraged to establish their own accounts. WHAT ABOUT COMBINED/POOLED ACCOUNTS? Should you choose to keep a combined/pool account for tickets with other fans, please be aware that only one individual from the group is recognized as the account holder, and only that individual receives the Nova Points. 12 13
