One-By-One Campaign Logistics Page 1 of 12

One By One Membership Campaign The Legion is a strong organization and membership is the foundation for everything we do. To help us grow, we are holding a Canada-wide membership campaign. One By One is a membership campaign where existing members of the Legion are encouraged to sign up one or more new members, for a chance at winning fabulous prizes. Legion members all believe in the organization and each can act as recruiters to bring in new members. Imagine if each of us brought in just one new member...we d double our ranks! Now, let s be more realistic...say we had just 25% of us bring in one new member; that means 75,000 new Legion members coming into our organization. That would see the Legion ranks grow like never before. One By One we can grow the ranks of the Legion and increase our membership. New This Year The 2015 One By One Membership Campaign is easier and better! Last year s campaign saw 187 Legion Branches bring in a total of 1031 new members through the campaign. Over 13% of Branches participated in the campaign. We gained valuable feedback through a Branch survey to help us improve the campaign this year! Based on feedback, this year s campaign is designed to reduce campaign administration at the Branch level and help Branches focus their time on encouraging their members to recruit new members. 1. This year s campaign runs from May 1 through July 31, 2015. Spring has typically been a successful time of year for recruiting activities. As the warmer weather hits, our members are more inclined to bring their friends and family to the Legion. Take this opportunity to ramp up your campaign and encourage your members to bring family and friends through your doors! While it is recognized that some branches may not be as active in the summer months, the majority of Branches do offer summer activities and events. We really can t afford to let the summer slip by without having an active recruitment campaign. With many Branches involved in summer BBQs and Canada Day events, the One By One campaign offers an excellent incentive to get branches and members to actively recruit this time of year. 2. New member initiation is not required prior to entering the contest! One of the biggest challenges Branches had was scheduling initiation ceremonies and completing and returning Member Registration Forms to Dominion Command before the contest end date. This year, we removed those requirements! For 2015, a Legion member is considered to have recruited a new member when that new member has submitted an application form and paid their membership fees in full. Once that new member has paid, the recruiting member can enter into the Grand Prize One-By-One Campaign Logistics Page 2 of 12

Draw, and both the recruiting member and the new member are entered into their Provincial draw for an ipad. To note, the new member must become a member in good standing before they can then recruit a new member for a chance to enter the Grand Prize draw. 3. No campaign administration for Branches! To help Branches manage the campaign over the spring and summer months, we have removed all tracking and reporting responsibilities for the Branches. This year, once a member has recruited a new member, the recruiting member will register themselves online to enter the contest. Branches can focus on promoting the campaign and encouraging members to recruit! When a Legion member recruits a new member, and that person has submitted their membership form and payment in full to the Branch, the recruiting member will enter the contest via an online form at www.legion.ca/onebyone. On the form, they will need to provide their membership information, the contact information, branch information and payment date of the new member, and sign a terms of agreement to verify the information is true and accurate. Dominion Command will verify Terms of Agreement has been signed, and all prize winners and individual(s) recruited under the One by One campaign will be verified by Dominion Command. At the end of the campaign, Dominion Command will prepare a summary report for each participating branch, and Provincial Commands providing final numbers of participating members, and number of new members. 4. More chances to win! This year, we re offering a grand prize for recruiting members, and additional prizes for both recruiting and new members! For every new member a current member recruits, they can enter the contest online for the grand prize draw for a Caribbean cruise. In addition, every recruiting member and every new member recruited through the One By One campaign will be automatically entered into their Provincial Command draw for an ipad. Now, recruiting members have two ways to win, and new members have a chance to win too! 5. Take advantage of July per capita tax to promote multi-year memberships! Also keep in mind that beginning July 1 the membership dues are only 50% of full year, so this again can provide an incentive for folks to join. Remember too that Branches should be doing everything they can to get members to buy their memberships for multiple years in advance! This way, members are automatically renewed, they don t have to worry about coming in to renew, their benefits don t lapse, the branches have membership dues in advance, and it makes renewals for branches so much better. Come July, we encourage all Branches to share the word Get your membership for this year and lock in at today s rates to save on your membership for next year. Even better, why not buy five years in advance and then really make it easy! One-By-One Campaign Logistics Page 3 of 12

One By One works! This year, get your Branch involved. Encourage your members to share their pride in the Legion and sign up a family member or friend. With every new member they sign up, they have two chances to win. The Prizes The Grand Prize Draw for Recruiting Members Recruiting members can enter the contest online for every new member they recruit. The grand prize is a balcony cabin on the 4th Annual Caribbean Commonwealth Veterans Cruise. The cruise sails from Miami, Florida to the tropical ports of Aruba, Curaçao, Grenada, Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Kitts and St. Maarten. The grand prize package for two people includes: 1 pre-cruise night hotel accommodations in Miami on January 23, 2016, transfers from the hotel to the pier, 14-night cruise aboard the Celebrity Eclipse from January 24 through February 7, 2016 in a category 2B balcony cabin (including taxes, port charges and pre-paid on board gratuities). Guests may upgrade to a higher category cabin at their own expense. Airfare to and from Miami, Florida (the point of origin and final port of call) is not included as part of this prize offering. Taxis, airport transfers, taxes (if applicable), travel insurance, tours and other expenses related to the cruise are the responsibility of the winners. Winners of the grand prize must travel on the dates specified. The prize is non-transferrable and has no cash value. The draw for the grand prize will be held on August 12, 2015. The winner will be verified for eligibility and contacted within a week to confirm their acceptance of the prize. Additional Prizes for Recruiting Members AND New Members This year, all recruiting members AND all new members recruited and entered through the campaign will be automatically entered into their Command prize draw for an ipad! There will be 11 ipads in the draw, one for each Command. Eligible entrants will be entered into the draw under the Command in which they joined. Dominion Command will draw for the Provincial Command prizes on August 12, 2015 and the winners will be contacted to confirm their acceptance of the prize. Final Results The final campaign results and contest winner will be announced in September once winners have confirmed acceptance of their prize. Results will be emailed to Provincial Commands and Branches and shared on the Legion.ca website and social media. One-By-One Campaign Logistics Page 4 of 12

Eligibility The contest is open to all Legion members in good standing who sign up a new* Legion member. The recruiting member s dues must be fully paid for the current year and there can be no issues regarding the status of the recruiting individual s membership. Paid employees of The Royal Canadian Legion at any level are not eligible to participate. However, we strongly encourage employees to recruit a new member, and help build our Legion ranks! Legion members in good standing who are family members of paid employees may participate in the campaign and be eligible to win. When a new member is recruited under the One By One Campaign, their name is automatically entered in the Provincial Command prize draw for an ipad. If the new member becomes a member in good standing and also recruits a new member and completes the One By One Draw Prize entry form online, they will be entered into the grand prize draw for the cruise. *A new Legion member is someone who is new to The Royal Canadian Legion or a reinstating Legion member whose last year paid was prior to 2012. For this campaign, a new member is considered recruited once they have paid for their 2015 membership in full. Their membership status may be pending initiation. The new member must become a full member in good standing by prior to receiving any prize winnings. How to Enter This year, current members who have recruited a new member into the Legion will be able to register themselves online in the contest. This will alleviate much of the Branch administration for the campaign. To enter in the Grand prize draw, the recruiting member must: Recruit a new member into the Legion between the dates of May 1 and July 31, 2015 That new member must submit a completed membership application form and pay their 2015 membership dues in full with proof of payment. Initiation at the Branch is not required to enter the contest, however the new member must become a member in good standing for 2015 prior to receiving any prize winnings. After the new member has paid their membership fees, the recruiting member can register in the contest on our website at www.legion.ca/onebyone As an alternative, the Branch may enter the contestant information online on the recruiting member s behalf. The recruiting member will accept a terms of agreement to verify their information is accurate and true, and to comply with all contest rules and regulations. All entries must be registered online via the online entry form by May 1 and July 31, 2015 to be eligible for the grand prize draw. Entries received after July 31, 2015 are not eligible. Entries and prize winners will be validated by Dominion Command. One-By-One Campaign Logistics Page 5 of 12

Each time a current member recruits a new paid member, they can register that new recruit online. On completing the online form, they are automatically entered into the grand prize draw. For each new person they recruit, they get another chance at winning the prize by completing the online form again and identifying the next new member they recruited. Each new member recruited by a current member must have been attributable to the current member. (For example: A Branch membership chair may only be entered in the contest if that person specifically recruited that new member). Entries in the campaign may be validated for accuracy to ensure fairness in this campaign. Record Keeping This year, registration into the campaign will be the responsibility of the recruiting Legion member. Each time a member in good standing recruits a new member*, the recruiting member can register themselves and the new recruit into the contest through the online campaign registration form. www.legion.ca/onebyone At the end of the campaign, Dominion Command will prepare a summary report from entries received online for each participating branch and Provincial Commands, providing number of participating members and number of new members. The final report will also include a branch feedback survey to help us plan future campaigns. Campaign Objectives / Targets Objectives/Targets Dominion Command has set the following suggested targets for this campaign: See participation rate of 20% of all Branches by the end of the campaign; and Increase membership by at least 2% (6,000) new members by the end of the campaign. We encourage all Branches to set your own Branch targets to make the campaign a success! Campaign Feedback We want your feedback! Your feedback will help us improve this campaign, and future member campaigns. To help Dominion Command track the delivery and progress of the campaign, we will ask Branches to complete a feedback form at the end of the campaign. Thank you in advance for your feedback and good luck with your Campaign! One-By-One Campaign Logistics Page 6 of 12
