The next five columns of the table represent the specialties that are considered hospital-based and include: Anesthesiology, emergency medicine, neonatology, pathology and radiology. There will be a checkmark () in the appropriate specialty column for each physician or group who participates in the Blue Cross networks. If there is no, it means that the facility does not have that hospital-based physician specialty or the facility has not reported data to Blue Cross (Data Not Received). 4. The following three columns in blue show whether the physician or group is... articipating in Blue Cross O network; Not participating in any Blue Cross network and therefore considered out-of-network. What you can do with this information: If you are planning to have a medical procedure or service at a network facility that has one or more out-of-network hospital-based physician(s), you may be balanced billed for the difference between the Blue Cross allowable charge and the provider s billed charge.
