Special Guest Appearance 2017 Ms. Missouri Nursing Home Queen Ms. Margie Batson Autumn Ridge Herculaneum, MO District 3 Pageant Coordinator: Cathy Bono, Delmar Gardens North Please meet the 2017 MHCA Ms. Missouri Nursing Home Queen, Ms. Margie Batson. Margie was born on January 19, 1931 in St. Louis, MO to Elmer and Ellen Kriegbaun. Her mother raised her, her sister Delores, and brother Virgil after their dad passed away when she was only 20 months old. Margie was the youngest. Her mother never remarried but could take care of the kids. She taught Margie and her siblings to be faithful and joyful, and to love one another. A childhood friend used to teach her how to act like Mae West, the actress and her mother would tell her not to act like that in public! At the age of 14, she started working to help her family out. At the age of 17, she went to work for Graham Paper Company as an order writer to help support herself. Margie has been married twice and has 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Her first husband, Tom, was a better friend than he was a husband and they remain friends to this day. Three years after their divorce, she re-met Terry, her childhood sweetheart. She and Terry would play Santa and Mrs. Claus for the Immaculate Conception Church in Park Hills. They were married for 22 years before the good Lord called him home. She found a new hobby that she loves and that is painting. Margie started painting when she moved into Autumn Ridge. With the help of others, she has been able to paint a variety of different paintings, which her kids and grandkids just love. She is also involved in facility activities and trips. She went to Critter Lane and rode a camel! I may not have had a glamourous life, but I have had a joyful one. I have a motto I live by and that is to be there when I am needed, Margie says.
