AIR COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE (ACSC) AND AIR WAR COLLEGE (AWC) AIR RESERVE COMPONENT SEMINAR (ARCS) ACSC/AWC-ARCS are non-resident/distance learning (DL) Intermediate Developmental Education (IDE) and Senior Developmental Education (SDE) programs. ACSC/AWC-ARCS consists of two (2) two-week seminars conducted over two consecutive years (phases). During the period between seminars, members are expected to complete certain curriculum requirements at home station. These requirements are pre-requisites for attending Phase II the following year. ACSC Air University, AWC Spaatz Center ACSC - Majors AWC Lieutenant Colonels ACSC Maxwell AFB, AL AWC McGhee-Tyson ANGB, TN June and December Two years Both seminar portions are Unit Funded Training line numbers (TLNs) will not be issued. Member must be in a military status to attend the two 2-weeks in-residence TDYs at Maxwell AFB or McGhee-Tyson ANGB. Travel arrangements and order processing are at the discretion of the member and their respective unit. 3

AIR COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE (ACSC) ONLINE MASTERS PROGRAM (OLMP) FOR Captains The ACSC OLMP provides Air National Guard Captains an educational opportunity to meet the needs of our service while also accommodating today s high operation tempo. The new leadership concentration is specifically designed to prepare captains for the leadership responsibilities they will face as they progress through their careers. The ACSC OLMP offers qualified officers an opportunity to earn a master s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Successful completion of the Leadership Concentration will earn the student an accredited Master of Operational Art & Science Degree. The program is a synchronous Distance Learning (DL) course with 8-week terms and is designed for students to complete the program within two years. Air University, Spaatz Center Maxwell AFB, AL via online Starts May 2 years - Captains with 2 years time in grade (TIG) - Captains with less than 8 years of Total Federal Commissioned Service Date (TFCSD) - Completion of Squadron Officer School (SOS) at the time of application submission - Must NOT have a master s degree N/A online course Program is geared towards ANG Captains that have not achieved a Master s Degree yet. This program does not fulfill Professional Military Education (PME) requirements. 4

AIR COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE (ACSC) ONLINE MASTERS PROGRAM (OLMP) FOR ANG Lt Cols The ACSC OLMP provides Air National Guard Lt Cols an educational opportunity to meet the needs of our service. Previously referred to as the Air Command and Staff College (ACSC) OLMP, the ACSC OLMP joint warfare concentration mirrors the ACSC resident program s learning outcomes through asynchronous, online interaction between faculty and students. The academic program consists of 11 eight-week courses (7 core courses, and 4 concentration courses) for a total of 33 semester hours. Students graduating from the Joint Warfare concentration will receive intermediate level PME (nonresident) and JPME Phase 1 credit along with a regionally-accredited Master s Degree in Military Operational Art and Science. Air University, Spaatz Center Maxwell AFB, AL via online Starts June Lieutenant Colonels N/A online course Program is geared towards ANG Lt Colonels that have not achieved a Master s Degree. 1year, 7 months 5

ADVANCED JOINT PROFESSIONAL MILITARY EDUCATION (AJPME) AJPME was specifically created for the Reserve Component (RC) community and is conducted by the National Defense University Joint Forces Staff College (NDU- JFSC). AJPME is a 40-week, blended learning course consisting of two distance learning (DL) periods, and two face to face (F2F) periods at week 13 and weeks 39-40, held at Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Virginia. National Defense University-Joint Forces Staff College (NDU-JFSC) Norfolk, VA and online via distance learning January 40 weeks Majors through Colonels who are, or will be, assigned to joint positions such as those identified on a Joint Duty Assignment List (JDAL), or serving on the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joint Staff, National Guard Bureau Joint Staff, Combatant Command Staffs, or in the Office of the Secretary of Defense joint billets. Unit Funded AJPME satisfies the second level of joint education necessary for becoming a Joint Qualified Officer (JQO). Completion of JPME Phase I (granted through completion of Air Command and Staff College (ACSC) or another approved Intermediate Developmental Education (IDE) program) is required. 6

USAF COMMANDERS COURSES This program consists of various courses held at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. The Commanders Professional Development School is responsible for conducting CSAF-mandated Wing, Vice Wing and Group Commander pre-command training, Wing and Vice Wing Commander spouse training, Wing Executive Response Course, Senior Leader Mission Generation Course, Board President Course and Incident Management training through professional continuing education for the Air Force. Commanders Professional Development School Maxwell AFB, AL March, April, May, June, July Two weeks Wing, Vice and Group Commanders Unit Funded Dates for USAF Commanders Courses are not readily available. All dates will be published to the ANG Force Development website, www.ang.af.mil/careers/forcedevelopment 7

INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR OFFICER LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT (IJOLD) SEMINAR IJOLD is a multi-national seminar designed to promote international military understanding and friendship while offering insight into leadership training. Approximately 70 students from different countries will receive numerous leadership lectures from experienced, proven leaders. Additionally, students will participate in various individual and group activities, all in the spirit of developing one's leadership skills. The curriculum includes international leadership, team building, cultural diversity, military officership, international relations, and cross-cultural mobilization issues. Instructional activities include classroom lectures, small group discussions, a field exercise, and structured social activities. Committee on Leadership Development (COLD) of the International Air Reserve Symposium (IARS) Varies each year Annual 8 days 2Lt through Captain Unit funded. Estimated $600 registration fee. The IJOLD program is a great opportunity for top performers to learn about other NATO countries military operations and military culture. Military personnel on official business require military ID cards and orders. IJOLD applicants must have NATO travel orders. 8

RESERVE COMPONENT NATIONAL SECURITY COURSE (RCNSC) This program is a two week seminar held at National Defense University (NDU), Ft McNair, Washington, DC. Students attend in civilian/business attire, and participate in lectures, panel discussions, on-site visits and a national security policy and defense resource management exercise under the guidance of faculty members of the National War College, The Eisenhower School, and other distinguished institutions. National War College Ft McNair, Washington, DC. January, April, July Officers (O-4 and above) Unit Funded Attendees selected by NGB panel process. Two weeks 9

JOINT COMBINED WARFIGHTING SCHOOL (JCWS) JCWS is a 10-week resident program primarily for active duty personnel, though the Air National Guard occasionally obtains short notice (less than 30 days) opportunities to attend. JCWS is designed to educate national security professionals on planning and executing joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational operations and instilling the teamwork, attitudes, and perspectives necessary for such operations. Joint Forces Staff College (JFSC) Norfolk, VA January, March, June, September Majors through Colonels who are, or will be, assigned to joint positions such as those identified on a Joint Duty Assignment List (JDAL), or serving on the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joint Staff, National Guard Bureau Joint Staff, Combatant Command Staffs, or in the Office of the Secretary of Defense joint billets. General Officers may attend with appropriate approval. School Day Funded 10 weeks JCWS satisfies the second level of joint education necessary for becoming a Joint Qualified Officer (JQO).
