What an exciting month to help celebrate Sagora Senior Living s theme of the month; Capture the Moment. This month we want to partner up with our residents as they continue to realize their dreams and carpe diem (Seize the Day)! This month, let s take time to reflect on our lives, look back on the special moments that have helped shape who we are and how we got here. No matter your age, we should all Seize the Day and live life to the fullest. As I have learned, if you want to enjoy where you are now and where you are going, you have to take time to learn from the past and reflect on pictures and/or videos from our past that show some of the wonderful memories and times that molded us into the people that we are today. This month, we are excited to share all our residents journeys; from graduating college, to joining the military, to starting a family, writing your memoirs, becoming grandparents and all the wonderful things and events of your past that brought you to our wonderful community. Many of our activities and events this month are based around this theme and we look forward to seeing and listening to our residents as they share their past stories and watch them as they take on new adventures that will shape their future. continued from front said it best: Every day brings a chance for you draw in a breath, kick off your shoes and Dance! What will you do this month to Carpe Diem? I hope to share in our residents joy and excitement as they Capture their Moments and as they Dance into their next adventure. Happenings In Assisted Living This month we will be introducing Mindful Meditation to our Seniors. We will start with a Presentation on the benefits of meditation such as improving well-being, physical health & mental health. Following this, we will have special guest, Teresa in the building demonstrating a unique form of meditation called Reiki. Meet us in the Media Room on September 4th at 3:00 p.m. for this relaxing time. Looking for a positive way to start your morning? Refer to our calendar for other selected dates for our guided meditation sessions led by Shantee. We have added some exciting new additions to our Landon Ridge s Assisted Living Fitness Program! You don't want to miss our introduction to our first ever Silver Aerobics Class being held on August 17th at 10:00 a.m. in the 2nd Floor Fitness Center. In addition to Silver Aerobics, we will be offering Water Aerobics in our heated, enclosed pool. Physical activities help keep us healthy and active in our retirement! We have partnered with Delta Pet Partners to establish dog therapy on our campus. Delta and their Furry Friends will be onsite every 1st and 3rd Monday providing door-to-door visits. If you would like to enjoy these pop-in visits, please have your doors open or be out in the hallways so they know to wag your way! Happenings In Independent Living Are You Ready For Some Football? Monday, September 10th the 2018 NFL kicks off its 49th season to date. Come experience Monday Night Football every Monday in our Bistro. You're welcome to bring game day snacks and appetizers to share and, of course, don't forget the drinks! Ever wanted to make a delicious meal, but only needed to feed 1-2 people? If yes, and even if no, still join us in the Dining room on September 5th at 3:30 p.m. for a Cooking Made Simple demo by Stacy from Encompass Health. Stacy is professionally trained in making delicious meals for 1-2 people. She will be demonstrating how to make these meals in 20 minutes or less! The best part of all, she will teach us how to make a sweet treat in a fraction of the time. Join us for this awesome event as we celebrate life, one serving at a time. Calling all Landon Ridge Master Chefs! It's time for a friendly, cooking competition! Chef Robert has challenged you to a cook-off against him. Who will be the one to challenge Chef Robert? Who will claim the title? THE RULES: We're inviting two competing 'chefs' to compete against Chef by creating a dish that must use a secret ingredient that is to be included in their recipe. We will reveal the secret ingredient 3 days prior to the event so each opponent can shop for groceries, create their masterpieces and bring them to the competition by the set time of 3:30 p.m. on September 11th. JUDGING: The pre-determined judges get to taste and judge each dish. Judges will have a numbered voting system of 1-5, and each gets to vote. Part of the fun will also be in the verbal critique! At the end, the dish with the highest total points will be announced as the winner and earn the title of MASTER CHEF!! If you would like to be a judge in this event, please inquire with Brittanie. On September 27th, Landon Ridge celebrates its 1st ever birthday! You're cordially invited to a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony followed by a birthday party to celebrate our very 1st birthday. She is a member on the Maintenance/Grounds committee, she helped establish our garden club and also teaches the Silver Aerobics every Friday in IL and Monday in AL.
