The 2018 SAMRM Conference This international conference provides a forum to discuss strategies that encourage understanding the client s worldview. Through this lens, a foundation essential to facilitating clients health, healing, and wellbeing, within a cultural perspective, will be shared. Wednesday Afternoon: Modeling and Role-Modeling theory overview and practice application sessions. Wednesday Evening: Cultural Immersion Drumming Experience Thursday & Friday: Understanding the client s worldview, cultural perspectives, and holistic theory-based care sessions. SAMRM Conference Goals 1. Encourage intercultural dialogue to facilitate healing, health and wellbeing through understanding the client s worldview and cultural perspective. 2. Disseminate knowledge and application of Modeling and Role-Modeling holistic nursing theory acquired through research, practice, and teaching. 3. Provide a forum for intercultural dialogue on holistic nursing concepts in relation to Modeling and Role-Modeling theory. 4. Inspire best practices, education and research grounded in holistic relationshipcentered nursing across populations and cultures.
WELCOME TO BEAUTIFUL Bemidji The 17 th Biennial conference will be held in Bemidji, MN known as the first city on the Mississippi and home to lumberjack legend Paul Bunyan. Erickson, Ph.D., RN, AHN-BC, FAAN Dr. Helen Erickson is a leading nursing theorist. Modeling and Role-Modeling theory is spiritual in nature; emphasizing holistic relationship-centered care, understanding the client s worldview, and regarding clients as the primary source of information. Dr. Erickson is a world renowned visionary who continues to transform nursing practice. Misty Wilkie, Ph.D., RN Dr. Misty Wilkie is a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians. She grew up on multiple reservations in North and South Dakota. As a minority nurse, she is passionate about mentoring minority students interested in health care. Margaret Erickson, Ph.D., RN, CNS, APHN-BC Dr. Margaret Erickson is the CEO of the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation.
